Ah autumn/winter, how I have missed you! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind that we’ve got milder weather here now in the UK, but with summer come tropical prints and neon brights- trends that don’t really scream ‘me’, and I always long for the darker tones of winter clothes in stores. Luckily a few days ago I was invited to the presentation of New Look’s autumn/winter collection, which I have to say outright- is amazing. The press day made me want to don faux fur and black attire like there’s no tomorrow, and I couldn’t help daydreaming about the crisper weather come September. There were just so many gorgeous, affordable pieces that I could see fitting into my wardrobe.
The styling was absolutely brilliant and so on point, polka dots and leopard prints together- something I definitely condone for that retro look. On top of that were favourites from last year, like faux leather and tartan, checked pieces that grunge down or dress up outfits. The accessories were to die for, with cleated soles still reigning supreme in the footwear section. My favourite pair were a great lookalike of the Jeffrey Campbell Mulder boots, which I have been frantically refreshing the New Look website to bag for myself! SWOON!
The jewellery was go big or go home, spangly, statement necklaces and geometric shapes were absolutely made to get noticed, and there was also a revival of faux pearl pieces for those who love a classic look. The clutches and totes were monochromatic and made to transition from autumn into full-blown winter- my favourite bag though was undoubtedly a gorgeous silver backpack, which was so sci-fi! Again, I’m refreshing the New Look ‘New In’ page to make sure I’m first in line when that drops- I can see it selling out fast! Love it!
On to occasionwear and New Look already have Christmas covered- even though it feels like a million miles away right now! Layering faux fur jackets and oversized masculine coats over sequinned dresses is what New Look predict we’ll be doing- and there’s not just the usual reds, greens and golds of Christmas to look forward to. In a homage to all the pastel loving princesses, the dreamy blue, pink and purple hues couldn’t be cuter, but still have edge.
As you can tell, I’m dying to get my hands on 90% of New Look’s upcoming collection and definitely feel there’s a lot for a wide variety of people and preferences. Keep your eyes peeled for selected pieces being dropped from now until mid-autumn instores and on the New Look site! That’s all from me today, be sure to check in on Sunday for this week’s video, and I’ll see you very soon. Until next time…
