Last week on the blog, it was all about summer basics and how to style them up ready for the sunshine that will hopefully arrive, (click here to check out that post). But this week, it’s all about print and pattern and working trend oriented tops easily into your existing wardrobe, and of course for a snip. You don’t have to go designer to work some statement prints, and today I’ll show you just where you can pick up some gorgeous and super wearable high street pieces.
First of all we’ll start with this super cute cherry print sleeveless shirt which is currently available instore at H&M. I picked this up a few weeks ago and still haven’t had the opportunity to wear it, damn weather! The cutesy cherry print is obviously what drew me to it at first, but I love that it ties at the bottom for a vintage feel and there’s something a little bit Marilyn about this, I can totally imagine her rocking this in summer with some white cropped pants. I bought mine to team with shorts and skirts for an easy summer option and I think this is definitely going to be the first thing I pack for my holiday in August. I believe this was £12.99 which I don’t think is too bad as the print is really gorgeous and as I said it’s super wearable and summer ready!
Next up is this gorgeous shirt from Primark, which instantly grabbed my attention with its nautical vibe. This striped shirt which is currently instore comes in at £10 which is of course a huge bargain. This is such a summery, beachy shirt as it’s sheer, so you can layer it underneath with a white or navy vest, or throw it over your bikini. It’s lovely and long so it looks gorgeous draped over jeans and shorts, but there’s always the option of tucking it in for a more polished look. I wore this recently for lunch with a friend over jeans and paired it with some colour pop heels to add even more fun. The gold accents really give it a more luxe feel and are great for teaming with your favourite gold jewellery or accessories. This is an easy wear that’s not going to break the bank anytime soon. For an even more casual look, leave the shirt unbuttoned over a cami for summer chic.
The next top might not be for everyone, but it's this fabulous flamingo jacket from River Island. I picked this up in the recent sale and I believe there are a few of these still instore. With a small hook at the collar, and without a zip or buttons, this jacket is meant to be worn open and I utterly love it. The peter pan collar only adds to the drama, but toned down with a colour block tank top and some jeans this is an easy way of taking a dreary, tired outfit to trend city. Flamingos are everywhere at the moment, and this is a great way to work that flamingo/Miami vibe but with some extra sparkle. I paid £20 for this in the sale, and it was originally £35 so look out for it on the sale rail in your local River Island!
Another great Primark top now for a lowly £5. This scribble print top is currently available instore and I have worn mine to death since buying it last month. You may have seen me sporting it in an OOTD last month, so I’ll link that post here for an idea of how I styled it. I bought this to team with shorts and jeans and I love the ’60s style print, I think it looks way more expensive than it is. I usually team this with big statement necklaces to really set it off, and gold jewellery and red lips only add to the retro vibe of this tee. For £5 you literally can just pick it up instore without breaking the bank to play around with for the coming summer months.
Lastly today I have a peplum top for you, which I cannot get enough of. I really love peplums, I think they are amazing and this top is possibly one of the most flattering things I own. The great thing about peplum tops is that they hug the tiniest part of your waist and then flair out to really accentuate and cinch you in and give you that hourglass effect. To nail two trends in one this Primark top is also a gorgeous mottled, multicoloured pattern which looks really modern and especially summery. I’m going to team this with shorts and streamlined skirts for a classic summer look. This is a great top for amping up for night and toning down for day too, so it’s pretty much a packing necessity for holiday! This top was either £12 or £14, I’m sorry I can’t remember the exact price, but they also have a matching skirt incase you want that co-ordinated look that is so hot right now in the fashion world.
That’s it for today’s style for less post, I hope this will help you pick up a few summery pieces minus the hefty price tag. Let me know if you have bought or are planning to get your hands on any of the high street pieces from today’s post, I’d love to know. Leave me a comment or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
