A summery OOTD today, and if you live in the UK too you’ll know it has been an absolute scorcher of a fortnight. Seemingly out of nowhere a heatwave rolled into town, and we’ve been enjoying wonderfully Mediterranean weather since. My boyfriend and I decided to make the most of the early summer and spend the day getting lost in Kew Gardens, somewhere we have been meaning to visit since we moved to London last year.
Being as it’s impossible to even think about trousers in heat like this, I opted for a cute Zara skirt that I picked up in the sale for £5.99 last year. This was the focal point of my outfit as I love its candy-cane stripes and sweet wrapper style colours. I paired it with a sleeveless Matalan shirt that I also picked up for a bargainous £5 last summer. For in the shade and when the sun goes in, I brought along my new favourite wardrobe piece, this denim shirt from Primark that is currently instore. For £10 it’s a steal compared to the abundance of these that are on the high street right now, and I saw an almost identical one in Pull & Bear which was double the price. I’m also wearing my ASOS watch and a cream Primark bag that I think is two years old and holding up fabulously!
I accessorised with my new necklace from Urban Outfitters, that I featured in my May Favourites (click here to read that) which consists of a long chain with a heart pendant, which has an initial on it. Unfortunately for me, who paid £16 for this, it’s now just £8 in the sale, which is good for you guys if you want to get your hands on one too.
On my feet I stuck to my colour scheme with cream Primark flats that will be part of an upcoming summer basics post. They have the cutest bow detail on the front and you can never have too many comfortable flats for days out like this, I believe they were around £6-£8 and are currently instore too.
On my nails, wonderfully matching my skirt, I had Barry M’s Bright Pink which is a gorgeous bubblegum colour that I featured in my May Favourites too, click here to see that.
As usual I thought I’d include some snaps from our day. As a lover of all things vintage, Kew Gardens was amazing as they have gorgeous, original Victorian glasshouses which have to be seen to be believed, the architecture is stunning. The gardens themselves deserve several trips as we definitely couldn’t see everything in the time we spent there, and we also didn’t get a chance to go inside Kew Palace. The gardens are truly breathtaking and we definitely had the weather for it, it felt like the most trouble-free place on earth as we wandered around in the sunshine. I’d highly recommend a visit, I’m going to make a point of going every time the season changes as it’ll be just as beautiful in Autumn too I can imagine. Enjoy the photos!
