Videos of the Week 04/03/12

So I hope everyone’s having nice lazy Sundays. I’m taking time out to look back on the best fashion and beauty videos that have hit my radar this week and of course, I love sharing a fab fashion moment or two with you all. This week it’s all about Chanel, my fashion icon Olivia Palermo’s New York picks and recreating Lara Stone’s make up.

First up it’s an advert that caught my attention this week for being so cute and bringing a bit of glamour and humour together as one. It’s Chanel’s ‘Shade Parade’ where gorgeously manicured nails are showcased on dancing hands as if in a fantastical show. The hands dance around to ‘Little Bitty Pretty One’ and give you a good look at the all the sumptuous hues that Chanel have to offer in their nail collection. This is one of those rare adverts that actually has some thought behind it, has a bit of character and can’t help but make you smile.

Next up is my favourite tutorial from the week, from one of my favourite Youtube beauty gurus, make up artist Tanya Burr. Tanya shows you how to recreate Lara Stone’s gorgeous look from the Tom Ford Violet Blonde campaign. While Lara’s campaign look is quite extreme, Tanya’s take on it is far more wearable. As you may know I’m really going for a more grungy vibe at the moment and this look is one I’m dying to try to coincide with that. Don’t forget to comment, like or subscribe to Tanya’s channel as she always uploads great tutorials from the latest fashion campaigns.

When this next video came up in my ‘recommended videos’ I couldn’t click it fast enough. If there’s anyone whose style I covet, it’s Olivia Palermo’s and so any chance to see her pick of the shops has to be jumped at. Olivia always manages to look super chic and is always ready to rock whatever the occasion in an up-to-the-minute ensemble. This short follows Olivia around her New York hotspots and gives you a little insight into what she gets up to in the big apple. As my boyfriend and I are desperate to go to New York I loved this little guide to the city from a fashionista like Olivia.

Next up it’s a vlog from beauty guru Fleur De Force, which I loved due to part of it being filmed having afternoon tea at The Berkeley. While this video might not make much sense to you if you’re not already one of Fleur’s followers, it’s worth watching just to check out the super chic fashion-themed afternoon tea ‘Pret a Portea’ that The Berkeley offers. This has become a huge must-do for me since watching this video and I think it’s the perfect way to while away an afternoon with your girl friends. Check out the cute handbag biscuits and trench coat cakes and book yourself a table at the chic-est tea party around.

Last but by no means least, it’s another ad that had me laughing into my tea lately. Whilst writing my March dates blog post (click here to read that), I was researching Mad Men teaser trailers and came across this hilarious one dedicated to the unpredictable Betty. Betty is the show’s glam housewife and the lead character’s ex-wife who never fails to create a bad atmosphere wherever she goes. This 30 second clip is a great collection of her most tumultuous moments and will be familiar to those who’ve seen the show. It’s funny stuff for those who know of Betty, for those who don’t though you can enjoy the drama and it may convince you to start watching the series!

I hope you enjoyed the videos guys, what have you been watching this week, and do you have any recommendations for me? As usual comment or tweet me your thoughts or suggestions, until next time…
