Us ladies love a good afternoon tea session, it’s the best way to treat ourselves and feel a little flash for a couple of hours. When a little while back I heard all about The Berkeley’s fashion afternoon tea, I knew it was something I was going to have to experience myself. Having tried and failed to book in a few times now (as it notoriously books up super fast), my best friend and I finally got our chance to experience the aptly named Pret A Portea a few days ago. I thought I’d take some snaps and talk you guys through it, as if you’re as fashion-obsessed as me, then this is something you absolutely have to do, 100%!
The Berkeley is a swanky hotel in Knightsbridge, a stone’s throw from Harrods and Hyde Park, and the Pret A Portea takes place in The Caramel Room which is a gorgeous art deco tea room. The whole ambience is very Gatsby, and it’s the perfect place to feel glam and sophisticated. While the afternoon tea may be £40 per person, it’s not something you’ll do every day, so saving up to splash out on going the once with your friends or family is totally worth it.
Every cake is themed and has been inspired by the catwalk and various designers’ creations. We had a Vivienne Westwood chequered coat inspired macaroon, Jean Paul Gaultier mousse, and dainty Oscar De La Renta cake as well as a Burberry trench coat biscuit. The waitresses talk you through every morsel and its inspiration, and provide you with a handy, and gorgeously designed menu featuring pictures from the runway to help set the scene.
I’d highly recommend treating yourself to Pret A Portea at The Berkeley, my bestie and I had a blast, you can’t go wrong with tea on tap! Make sure you plan and reserve in advance to avoid disappointment as it really does book up super quick! I hope you enjoyed today’s post and I’ll see you guys all really soon! Until next time…
