Hello there and welcome to this week’s She Hearts Sunday! It’s been two weeks since my last Sunday post, due to my move, but now I’m settled in and I’ve got tonnes of great hearts to share with you. Whether you’re looking for something to lift your spirits in this freezing weather, something to inspire you, or even something to do on your next weekend, then this is the place to be this week. Check out today’s specially selected hearts and don’t forget to let me know what you think!
My boyfriend pointed me in the direction of this Disney short, and being Disney you expect a certain amount of magic, and this doesn’t disappoint. For all those needing something happy, warm and fuzzy to watch with your cuppa (whilst escaping this freezing weather), this is the perfect thing. This cute short tells the story of a couple who meet momentarily on a train platform in New York and it is one of the most adorable things ever. Be sure to check it out, it is widely available to watch online if you google it, but there aren’t any videos that will embed in this post, so here’s the trailer!
She Hearts…The Bodyguard
One of the biggest events that happened during my move was my 23rd birthday, and as a treat my Mum and I booked tickets to see The Bodyguard at The Adelphi theatre on The Strand. If you haven’t seen The Bodyguard (and I ask you why!?) then I’ll just fill you in. In the original ’90s movie Whitney Houston plays a famous singer, Rachel Marron, who is in peril and who subsequently falls for her bodyguard (Kevin Costner). I have to say, Heather Headley, the amazing actress playing Whitney’s character, more than filled her shoes and was phenomenal. Heather’s voice was out of this world and there was more than one moment where my Mum and I were about to cry. The sets, the costumes, the entire cast and their incredible singing voices are all reasons you should go see it immediately. If you love the movie and know all the songs, I just don’t know why you haven’t seen this yet, it’s fantastic and I would highly recommend it. You can book tickets for the show here.
She Hearts…The Harlem Shake at Fashion Week
The Harlem Shake seems to be everywhere right now, and by everywhere I literally mean, everywhere. If you haven’t picked up on this Youtube phenomenon yet then it’s only a matter of time until it invades your psyche. Like Gangnam Style before it, it has become ‘one of those things’ that the world’s discussing, laughing at and even joining in with and making their own videos of. The now infamous dance managed to make it’s way backstage at the Topshop Unique show during London Fashion Week and Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn got stuck in. You’ve seen it all now, the Harlem Shake has never been this fashionable.
She Hearts…Lookbook.nu and Look Street Style
One of today’s hearts goes out to two of my favourite fashion sites, Lookbook.nu and Look Magazine’s Street Style web page. This week I decided to use both platforms as a place to upload my outfits from now on to compliment my blog and I’ve had great feedback on both. Lookbook.nu is a great site where you can post your latest outfits, see other bloggers’ outfits, ‘hype’ the outfits you love and even ‘fan’ the bloggers’ outfits you want to see all the time. I’ve been browsing the site for years, but have never posted my own looks on there, so that’s all changed. If you’d like to ‘hype’ my outfits, or if you have a lookbook account, I’d love to see you on there, and you can find my page by clicking here. As with Lookbook, one of my favourite high street magazine’s Look has recently incorporated an interactive street style section on their site which enables you to send in your outfits and even gives you the chance to be in the magazine. It’s really easy to use and there are loads of great looks on there to browse through too. I’d love for you guys to let me know if you’re signed up to the Look site and would love to see your looks too, so if you’re on there you can also check out my page here. I might see you there.
She Hearts…The Oscars
That’s right it’s the Oscars tonight and even here in the (might I say f-reezing) UK you can be a part of it all. There are live streams available all over the web for you to choose from, so you can watch the arrivals as they happen and check out all the frocks before they make the hit and miss section of the tabloids tomorrow! I’m looking forward to seeing how Ange is going to top her leg-out dress that caused such a stir last year! As usual with the awards, I’ll be putting together a post of my favourite frocks from the night here on the blog, so you can look forward to that tomorrow lunchtime.
When I first found out about this exhibition, I was genuinely so excited that I grabbed all my old Lichtenstein postcards and started putting them up round the flat. I absolutely love Lichtenstein’s pop art style and collect the mini postcards of his work (until I can afford an original of course- good luck Mills). I’m heading to this exhibition as soon as possible and so should you, it’s bound to be packed to the rafters until the very last day. There’s nothing I don’t love about his work; the strong ’60s vibe, the comic-book inspiration and the bright vivid colours…I’m just going to go right now…
That’s it for this week’s She Hearts Sunday, let me know what you’ve been loving this week, and what you’re looking forward to by posting me a comment below or by tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Don’t forget my Oscars post will be up tomorrow so if you’d like to know what dresses I loved best from the awards then be sure to check it out here on the blog. Until next time…
