As you may have guessed from a few of my moodboards lately, I’m all about layers at the moment. I don’t feel that my outfit is fully ‘done’ without a big coat and some wintery accessories, so I’m definitely a more is more girl right now. Of course though, it is only October, which means too many layers is just not practical, and it’s still reasonably warm here in London Town. On a recent indecisive weather day I threw this ‘light layered’ look together for a stroll with my boyfriend and I’ve come to absolutely adore this kind of ensemble.
To keep the look easy despite the different colours, I opted for more muted base colours, like grey, black and an almost denim blue. My grey dress which is one of my all-time wardrobe staples, was a lowly £10 from Primark, and I believe they still have these available in some stores. This is the easiest dress to throw over leggings when you want to let your other accessories do the talking. My leggings are also from Primark and I love the shade of these, they’re not quite light blue and neutral enough to wear with most colours as an alternative to black. The coat, which I’ve mentioned in quite a few OOTDs at the moment, is vintage and was gifted to me by a neighbour in my hometown and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it now!
To add extra interest and to break up the neutral shades, I threw on my leopard print and patterned scarf that was a gift from my sister, also from Primark. I wore this in my recent Windsor Castle OOTD and now I just want to wear it with everything! As usual my boots which I live in are from Timeless and my necklace, a heart pendant with an ‘M’ on it, is Urban Outfitters, it’s so simple but classic and again goes with most ensembles for an easy injection of jewellery that’s not OTT.
That’s it for today’s OOTD, I hope you enjoyed it and it might inspire you to get layering this autumn/winter. What are your go-to looks at the moment? Let me know by leaving me a comment below or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
