Geek Chic on the High Street: Lazy Oaf’s Batman Collection

By She Hearts The High StreetJuly 20, 2012 ( 4 )

Lazy Oaf have turned my sartorial dreams into reality. Long have I, well, longed for someone to do a Batman collection that not only incorporates the incredible DC Comics character, but that is genuinely on-trend too. Being unashamedly the biggest Batman geek ever, I have my fair share of Batman attire, however an oversized Primark Men’s Batman jumper is not exactly fashion week worthy is it?! My dual loves of fashion and Batman have never really come together in a successful and frankly, chic way, until now that is.

Lazy Oaf’s Batman collection coincides perfectly with tonight’s Batman: Dark Knight Rises release, and by the time I post this I may have even caved and run off to Lazy Oaf on Carnaby Street to treat myself to some Batman goodies, in time to see the film in the cinema tonight. Wouldn’t that be perfect? Here are the pieces from the collection I’m coveting most.

This £60 monochrome shirt to me is just perfection, tucked into skirts it’d be just geeky enough but still girly, and over leggings or skinny jeans it will showcase the incredible pattern. It’s not one for the faint-hearted, but then nothing from this collection is particulary muted, it’s definitely head turning gear if ever there was any.

Being as backpacks have enjoyed a huge comeback this year, it would be rude not to include this Batman logo backpack that will set you back £55. This whole collection definitely has a huge ’90s vibe, and no piece more so than this Batman backpack complete with pockets.

The piece de resistance of this collection is undoubtedly this amazing £60 bodycon dress. The typography and illustrations create a truly eyecatching pattern, while the fit is made to retain that feminine shape. This would look incredible with heels to really cause a stir on a night out, but layered over tights or leggings and with a cardigan or jumper thrown over, this dress could instantly turn into a more relaxed outfit with just a hint of print.

Lastly, though menswear it may be, this tee is too cute to pass up. At a more modest £38 compared to the £50+ price tags of the other items, this tee is definitely more wearable for the less confident in the pattern department. This can easily be played down with jeans and a blazer, just add a chunky necklace to keep your fashion credentials in check, it’s as easy as that!

That’s it for today’s geek chic post. I’m off to see Batman at the cinema tonight and cannot wait for it! If I do get my mitts on any of the above items I’ll be sure to let you know, likewise if you pick up any of these pieces, I’d love to know so leave me a comment on what you think below, or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
