Outfit Of The Day: The Summer Sweater

OOTD: The Summer Sweater

A sweater might not be your first port of call when looking for summer clothes, but old unpredictable Britain can be a little bit sneaky in the warmer months. One minute you’re dancing around the park in your sandals, and the next you’re sheltering under the nearest tree, wondering if the rain shower will ever end! A thin summer sweater can be the perfect thing to throw over your bralets, crops and such, especially when you’re going to be out all day- particularly at festivals, barbecues and outdoor summer parties. Even as we shot these photos, the weather changed twice, as you’ll probably see from the sunlight in some of them, so you can never be too prepared! I loved styling up this grungy summer sweater, so here’s what I did with today’s outfit…

Of course the focal point of this outfit is this badass lightweight Led Zeppelin sweater that was very kindly sent to me by Vanilla Underground. If you’ve seen my latest haul video here, you’ll have already heard me chatting about this, and the brand too, but for those who missed it, Vanilla Underground are a fully licensed merch site, brimming with cool band tees. I live in band tees and sweaters, so I was over the moon when they asked me to pick out something to style up here on the blog. At £35 this sweater isn’t going to break the bank, and if you too love a bit of Led Zep, it’s a great wardrobe addition that’s super easy to pair.

Of course florals for summer are always a winner, so I went for these amazing Monki jeans that I’ve had for years. I just love how in-your-face they are, and how vibrant they make all your summer outfits. Because it was a little chilly before the sun came out, I threw over my vintage acid wash shirt, which I picked up from Patricia Field’s Boutique in NYC, this bad boy cost me the equivalent of a fiver, and I have worn it to death! On my feet I have my ASOS enemies which were a steal in last year’s summer sale, for £25! The buckled detail adds toughness to any outfit, and I love the juxtaposition with the girly floral jeans. Finally I have on my trusty Forever 21 sunnies and layers of thrifted and high street rings and necklaces, which I pretty much wear every single day!

That’s it for today’s post, be sure to let me know what you thought of today’s look. If you fancy grabbing this sweater for yourself it’s right here, so definitely check it out! I’ll be back this weekend with a new video for you guys, so keep your eyes peeled then! Until next time…
