House of Fraser AW15: My Picks

House of Fraser AW15

Summer may be in full swing, but if you’re anything like me, and relish the cooler weather and love layering up, then autumn/winter is never far from your mind. It’s no secret that I’m much more excited by the autumn/winter trends than summer’s tropical and neon fare, so when House of Fraser asked me to join them at their latest AW15 press day, I couldn’t wait to dive into this winter’s looks. I’d go as far as to say that House of Fraser’s offerings this season far surpassed any of their press days I’ve been to before. I quite literally wanted everything, and left with a list as long as my arm, ready for when the items hit store in the coming months. So, I thought I’d share my edit of the extensive collection that’s on the way! Get ready to mentally spend some money!

Let’s just start by saying, that if you’re fully on the fringed bandwagon, as I very happily am, then there’s plenty here for you. Tassels are not just a festival, summer thing, they transition. Polo Ralph Lauren had the best selection of fringed to-die-for bags in tonnes of neutral and complimentary colourways for slotting seamlessly into your wardrobe. And the bags didn’t end there. Another number I had my magpie-eyes on was a killer DKNY studded backpack. Because you can never have enough backpacks. When practicality and style go hand in hand, it’s a beautiful thing, and this bag is no exception! The bags were in a whole other league.

We need to talk about Biba. If you’ve ever wondered what the VIPs at Studio 54 in the ’70s would’ve been wearing, it’s hanging in the Biba section of House of Fraser. Amazing shimmery, sequinned, faux fur fabulousness is yours for the taking, so if you’re less shrinking violet and like to go show stopper at every event, this is your go-to this autumn/winter. Think New York City night out, meets a hint of The Great Gatsby and you’re there. Everyone at the event was swooning over the Biba corner and for good reason. Staying with the dressy theme, another piece that caught my attention was this stunning Michael Kors sequin skirt. The perfect statement piece for dressing up or down, I was imagining thousands of outfits with this, from simple with a bralet, to smart with a blazer thrown over. It’s strangely versatile, and completely timeless. Black is always in. Sequins are always in. No excuses needed.

Going a little more casual, and away from the bright lights of Studio 54, the other seventies influence, is Almost Famous. If you love Penny Lane as much as I, then there are more than a few doppelgangers from her wardrobe here. Fur trimmed coats, floppy hats and yes, more fringe lend themselves to a Penny look that is totally irresistible. Finally one of my favourite brands, Label Lab have pulled it out of the bag yet again, with a an edgy, model off-duty, street style inspired collection that’s gorgeously edited, and nails every trend we’ve seen from the big designers, but for an affordable price. Two of my favourite pieces were a leather, biker coat, and this grungy, distressed sweater, which I don’t feel I can live without for another second. For trend injections, it’s Label Lab.

That’s it for today’s post, I hope you enjoyed that sneak peek behind the scenes at the press day! Thanks again to House of Fraser for the invite! I managed to film a decent amount of footage at the event, and have some more exciting events coming up this week, so a press day vlog made up of all the clips will be on the way very soon, keep your eyes peeled on my channel! Be sure to let me know what your favourite piece from this post was, I’d love to know! Enjoy the rest of your week and I’ll see you all soon. Until next time…
