Let’s start by stating the obvious, the name of this polish leaves a little to be desired. ‘Oil Slick’ is even a better name than that, and even that isn’t that inventive. That niggle aside, I LOVE this polish, and just had to share my latest manicure success with you guys. Welcome to my mini review and shameless photos of what can only be described as nail porn, let’s jump right in.
Ordinarily I don’t talk about beauty too much on the blog, as to be honest I’m definitely not the person to ask about most make up, and definitely skin issues. But nails, I can definitely talk about for hours on end, due to the fact that I both collect polishes and paint my nails like it’s going out of fashion, and I just can’t get enough. My polish addiction hit an all-time high a few days ago when I was wandering around Westfield and popped into their pop-up bottle store. I saw ‘Pinky Brown’ and instantly snapped it up in all its dual tone gorgeous glory.
I would say that this is slightly more than dual chrome if I’m completely honest, as it is that oil slick, split petrol ‘colour’ that I adore. I’ve seen a few brands doing polishes like this lately, but this one is particularly beautiful and caught my eye. Two coats over a medium/dark base coat is perfect, but you can’t skip the base coat or this just isn’t going to look right. I went for a nude, which worked out great. At £5 this little injection of oil slick won’t break the bank (Models Own are having a 6 for £15 sale at the moment too!) and Models Own formula is one you can definitely count on to go on easily and stay chip-free.
That’s it for today’s post, I will be doing two beauty hauls (one split into two parts) on my Youtube channel in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that if you’d like to see what else I picked up from Models Own. Let me know what your favourite polishes are by leaving me a comment below and/or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
