Hello and welcome to She Hearts Sunday! Today I have three quite eclectic hearts for you, a bit of fashion, a movie and an exhibition that I think you guys should all know about and would love. Without further ado, let’s get into why you should be putting these things on your must-see list.
She Hearts…Curios at Christie’s
Auction house Christie’s is famous for being the go-to place to drop all your cash on something rare and uber expensive. Not that I’d know, it’s not the type of place I hang out to be all that honest, but that’s about to change. On the 5th September Christie’s will hold an Out of the Ordinary auction, which does away with the usual set of item categories and lists a whole load of anomalies and curios. What’s better, before that day, any Tom, Dick or Harry can go have a look at the amazing pieces that will go up for sale, exhibition style. Flying machines, paintbrushes, robots, you name it, it’s being listed.
She Hearts…The Place Beyond The Pines
Normally I’m not one for bringing movies I’ve watched into She Hearts Sunday, but I enjoyed this one SO much, that I felt it was compulsory on this occasion. If you loved Blue Valentine, (and come on, who didn’t), then you’ll already be aware of Derek Cianfrance’s amazing directorial style, which lends itself amazingly to this tale of hardships through generations in upstate New York. The film is beautifully scenic as the title would suggest, with the leafy, mountainous backdrops adding even more brooding to the movie, it has a fabulous cast and Ryan Gosling is in it, need I say more?
She Hearts…Barbie For Selfridges
It’s official, Barbie is about to have a permanent residency at Selfridges, with her own floor and shopping area in the iconic store. To celebrate the descent of the beloved queen of plastic upon London, British designers have gone ahead and given the famous doll a high-fashion makeover. I love all the weird and wonderful pieces that have been crafted for Barbie at Selfridges and am looking forward to having a browse in there just for fun and nostalgia’s sake! For those who are serious about collecting, there’ll even be a section dedicated to limited edition and more rare dolls, definitely worth a look.
That’s it for this week’s She Hearts Sunday, I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know what you thought of this week’s pick by leaving me a comment below and/or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
