So last night was an exciting night for Urban Outfitters, as they opened up their first Camden store, right across the street from Camden Town tube station. With a rich history and plenty of quirky features to boot, the building itself is a perfect host for Urban Outfitters new store, and fits the brand to a tee. Luckily, I was invited by the brand to have a little nosy around the premises before the launch party, so I could take some snaps for you guys, and learn a bit more about the building and all the great pieces they had on offer inside.
After meeting the lovely Urban Outfitters team, I was shown around the original features of the building. Having started out as a bakery, the building was then a theatre, a cinema, and finally a market, and there’s evidence everywhere of the building’s former past, it makes for a much richer shopping experience than your regular chain store. Theatre seats from the days of stage productions are still there to help you try on shoes, there are warehouse fittings from the bakery days, floor markings from the market stalls, and even a portion of floor made from comics that was once home to a comic book stall.
The ability to shop on all one floor is a great trait of the new store which differs from their usual multilevel stores, and while at first the shop may seem small on entering, the narrow entrance leads out into the large warehouse-style main hall where the majority of the stock is housed. It’s overwhelming in size, and filled with great details, with dinosaur and bear busts on the walls, elaborate street art and Urban Outfitters trademark visual merchandising with items laid out enticingly on tables and a whole section dedicated to Urban Renewal.
The party itself was a huge success, with the doors practically buckling against the excited horde outside just before 5pm. The hype surrounding this launch has been phenomenal, and the instore attractions brought in a huge crowd. I was joined by my lovely fellow bloggers Georgina from Georgina Goodman and Jade from J’adore Jade (you should definitely check their blogs out) and we even had a little chat with one of my favourite bloggers Olivia from What Olivia Did who was super sweet. Aside from the company there were free beers, a DJ, pick n mix, a photo booth, a temporary tattoo parlour, a nail art bar and a pinata battle to win £500 all to be enjoyed inside the warehouse.
I just want to say a huge thank you to Urban Outfitters for inviting me to the preview and letting me have a little snoop around! It would have been impossible to snap decent shots with the sheer mass of people that ended up descending on the premises, which is a testament to the Urban Outfitters team who made it a great night. I’d highly recommend popping in to take a look next time you’re in Camden, it’s open to the public now!
That’s it for today’s post, be sure to let me know if you were there last night or if you intend to hit the store soon, I’d love to know. Leave me a comment below and/or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…

Good to hear from someone else who was there! I had a good few of those lovely beers, and the sweets! Hope you enjoyed yourself 🙂 xxx
Oh wow Urban Outfitters in Camden. It’s been years since I’ve been to Camden but miss it loads. Live half-way across the world now but have great memories of Camden. I’ve got to check this place out when I’m back in England.
