Primark’s highly anticipated A/W collection, which hits stores from the end of August, has an undoubtedly Gwen feel, and it’s something all us girls need to know! Gwen has always been on the fashion radar for pulling out all the stops with her trademark platinum hair, red lippy and punky ensembles. This autumn/winter at Primark you have the chance to bag more than a few pieces that gorgeous Gwen would definitely deem worthy of her wardrobe. So, let’s get to the Gwen-esque goodies that the affordable brand has to offer.
The Tartan Biker
Gwen has been pictured numerous times in her punky, tartan biker. Gwen wears hers with all black and more grungy pieces, but also works it into more demure outfits, as above, by keeping the rest of the outfit sleek and sophisticated.
Primark’s tartan biker is just as great for adding punk edge to a more conservative ensemble, but I think this would look amazing thrown over a black tee, ripped jeans and boots to really up the grungy ante. The faux leather sleeves on Primark’s jacket add edge and give it a little something more than Gwen’s original, and for under £25 you can’t afford to miss out!
The Crisp White Shirt
A white shirt is a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, but Gwen particularly loves a crisp white shirt to balance out her outfits. Tucked into skinny jeans, left untucked with a statement jumper over the top, or to add a more crisp look to some more grungy bottoms, Gwen knows how it’s done, and with serious style.
Primark’s white shirt offering has one cute gold button under the collar and is prime for pairing with patterned trousers, or leather look skinnies for a more sleek Gwen look. At £10 it’s an absolute steal and I love that the buttons are concealed, it gives it a much more high-end look. If you want a Gwen-style update but don’t want to go crazy, then this one’s definitely for you.
The Tartan Trousers
Gwen has always been a huge fan of tartan, which is one of the most popular punk patterns going. Teamed with black, red and white it looks great, and mixing textures such as leather and even knits in winter can look super luxe. Gwen loves teaming her tartan with mesh, like with this onstage ensemble.
These super affordable tartan Primark trousers scream Gwen and are so versatile, you’ll more than get your money’s worth with them. Try teaming them for day with clunky boots and a simple white tee and/or white shirt, for a punky yet more prim look. For the evening these will look great with heeled boots and a Gwen-esque black top with mesh or sheer panels to add a sexy edge.
The Check Trousers
Like Gwen’s signature tartan, checked patterns are also right up Gwen’s alley. She again teams her statement trousers with monochrome and or a pop of red to really stand out. You don’t have to go completely Gwen and rock a crop top, but the trousers are an absolute, uncompromisable must.
Primark have knocked it out of the park again with these gorgeous Gwen-a-likes which are perfect for autumn/winter. With a fab nineties vibe, which isn’t going anywhere, these trousers will look just as great to transition from summer with a shirt, but then with a black or white jumper, will look super sleek when the winter comes. Just don’t forget the tough boots.
The Burgundy Boots
When Gwen’s taking a day off from those sky high heels, she always looks to her Dr Martens for style and comfort. But, if the originals are a little out of your price range, Primark has the answer. Get ready for the footwear you’re not going to take off this autumn/winter, at an incredible price to boot!
These boots are a steal and when teamed with all black, or black and red a la Gwen, these can look awesome. Gwen uses her bulky boots to outweigh the feminine shape of her trench, and these add some toughness to an otherwise girly look. Really up the punk ante by adding these stompy boots to all your trouser-and-jumper combos, it’s tomboy chic at its best.
Primark have tonnes of other great pieces which I could totally imagine Gwen wearing, check out this leather bustier, leather look sweater and these killer heeled booties, all completely Gwen’s style! The prices of these haven’t been released yet, but we’ve been promised that nothing is above £35!
That’s it for today’s post, I hope it’ll help you make a beeline for some Gwen inspired pieces in your local Primark. These pieces will all be hitting shops from the end of August onwards, so let me know when you spot them, or if you pick anything up! Until next time…
