Hello and welcome to today’s behind the scenes post! On Tuesday I was lucky enough to attend a blogger event at The Penthouse in Leicester Square showcasing the amazing designs of Arlene Barclay of House of Halos. Arlene designs not just statement jewellery, but incredible headpieces and even crowns that totally stole the catwalk show that we got to enjoy. I can’t thank Bloggers Love enough for inviting me to the lovely evening, and I thought you guys might like a sneak peek of what we got up to at the event.
Arlene’s designs were all showcased for us on arrival, and we got to take a closer look at the different collections. My absolute favourite collection was the ice collection, which looks like gorgeous frozen coral. The headpieces fit so beautifully on the models and the quality is outstanding. Arlene has 24 years expertise in the industry and it definitely shows in the intricate pieces she has both designed and crafted.
There were a tonne of crowns on show too, I was loving the skull detailing on a few of them, and Arlene repped her home country of Scotland with some tartan fabric details too. Scottish singer Emeli Sande has been photographed in Arlene’s designs and I can totally see why, they really do stand out and are brilliant for special occasions.
Amongst all the designs were booths for us all to chatter and network, I met some lovely bloggers at the event namely, Tania of The Name Is Tania, Jake of Style Journo, Jodie Marie of A La Jode and a fellow skull-obsessive Jade of J’adore Jade whose blog you’ll love!
Amazingly for me, the fayre on offer was cupcakes and Cherries Cakes put on an incredible spread of skull cupcakes, what more could you want? Let me add that they also had roses and glitter on them. Best. Cupcakes. Ever. Not only were we fed and watered, there was also a complimentary manicure on offer, as the lovely Pamper Puff Girls had their set up ready to get our nails into shape.
Now onto the important part, after all that cake-eating, nail-painting, photographing and chatting, the catwalk show began, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The three gorgeous models were dressed to the nines in dresses by Kevin Freeman of Renaissance Couture and Isabelle Randall which were absolutely stunning. All of Arlene’s accessories really shone and we got a well-rounded look at the more commercial and wearable pieces as well as the high-fashion, couture designs which were really exquisite, hand-crafted and completely striking.
Before leaving we all had the chance to enter a raffle to win one of Arlene’s gorgeous necklaces, a design similar to that of one worn by Emeli Sande herself. The lovely Jake of Style Journo was the recipient of the prize and he’s going to look amazing in it too. Nice one Jake!
Again, I just want to thank Bloggers Love for inviting me, the Pamper Puff girls for the lovely red glittery manicure, all the fellow bloggers I got to have a good old chat with, and most importantly Arlene, who put on an amazing show, and event and who is genuinely one of the sweetest designers you’ll ever meet! She definitely deserves a huge spotlight for her pieces, so head over to her website, here, now to show your support for her designs!
That’s it for today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know what you think of today’s piece by leaving me a comment below and/or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
