Hello and welcome to today’s splurge and save post! When the lovely team at Matches Fashion contacted me recently about creating this blog post, I couldn’t wait to trawl their designer site for amazing pieces, as well as find you guys some great high street lookalikes. Having been obsessed with all things holographic at the moment, I decided it was the perfect trend to help you both splurge and save on, and so here we are! If you need more convincing that holographic is where it’s at right now, then check out my recent holographic moodboard, right here. That’s not all though, Matches are currently running an amazing competition to win £10,000 to spend on designer goodies on their site, so if you’d love to get your hands on some of today’s pieces, then stay tuned for the competition information at the end.
Let’s start with my personal favourite splurge piece from today, this pair of incredible Gianvito Rossi hologram point toe shoes. If you only want to dip your, ahem, toe into the trend then these shoes are perfect for playing down with an otherwise neutral ensemble. They can add a welcome bit of interest to a simple jeans and tee combo and a simple pointed-toe shoe like this never goes out of style so the £355 price tag is a definite investment. You can pick them up on the Matches site here.
The save option today is care of Forever 21. The American brand have come out with these £19.75 alternatives, that are a little higher and probably a little less day-friendly than the Rossis, but gorgeous all the same. If you want to work the ’90s trend without the investment then these are the way to go.
Next up is this oh-so incredible clutch from the one and only Stella McCartney. Stella’s Falabella clutch is the perfect addition to an evening ensemble, but just as wearable for everyday. This clutch, which comes in at £500, will look amazing with all-black or all-white outfits to really add interest to a minimal look. With enough room for all your essentials, this should definitely be at the top of your wishlist. You can pick up this awesome clutch on the Matches site, here.
If you love Stella’s clutch, but need something more compact and less high-impact, try this holographic iPhone clutch from Urban Outfitters. At just £5 in their current sale, this clutch just fits your absolute necessities- your cards and your phone. If you’ve splurged on your saturday night outfit but need a holographic fix, this clutch is for you.
Today’s third splurge item has been on my radar for quite some time now, and being the sci-fi lover I am, I can’t resist its futuristic style. This amazing Johnathan Saunders skirt looks perfect with minimal accessories and chunky knits as well as streamlined blouses for a more formal look. This skirt is undoubtedly a statement piece and will definitely be the focus of any look you put together with it. At £460, this British-made piece is one you’ll treasure in your wardrobe for years to come. To get your hands on this fabulous Saunders skirt, just visit the Matches site, here.
Today’s save alternative is from ASOS, who are always up-to-the-minute with their pieces. Their take on the holographic skirt is slightly more disco, and not lacking in sex appeal with its sultry thigh split. Taking on the trend with sequins, this £37.50 skirt is more suited to a night out with the girls, but for the fearless, a white tissue tee and sandals would definitely dress this down come summer.
Lastly today is another pair of killer heels, this time from Chrissie Morris. These aptly named ‘Sunburst Sandals’ take the classic heeled sandal style and rework it with added snakeskin effect too. The mesh inserts keep the look super modern and these £728 sandals certainly do all the talking. Come summer with a gorgeous white or neutral-toned maxi dress, these are totally going to steal the show poolside. Pick up your pair of Chrissie Morris heels on the Matches site, here.
If you’d love some chunky holographic heels, but want to go more modern still, these Boohoo.com block heels might be more your style. With a more chunky, futuristic look than the Chrissie Morris pair these are great for the more minimal-loving girls among us. With a classic peep-toe, these £35 heels are made even more high-impact with the ankle strap that really shows off the holographic material.
If you fancy winning yourself some designer pieces from Matches Fashion, then head on over to their site now, to enter their incredible competition. One lucky winner will win £10,000 to spend on Matches’ designer selection, both instore and online, so if you had your eye on some of today’s holographic pieces, this could be your chance to take them home. All you have to do is fill in the form on the Matches site here, and don’t forget to recommend your friends for more chances to win! Good luck!
