NYE Dresses: 7 Under £70

Christmas may have been and gone, but the ultimate party night is almost upon us: New Year’s Eve. If you’re still stuck for something drop-dead gorgeous to wear for the big occasion, never fear! Earlier this week I posted an extra special inspiration post to get you into the New Year’s spirit (click here for that), and today’s post has no less shimmer or sparkle. NYE is all about having fun with fashion, looking stunning in your sequins and feeling downright fabulous ready for the year ahead. That’s why today I’ve selected seven perfect dresses, all under £70 so whatever budget you’re on, there’ll be a fun frock here to suit your needs- and wallet!

Today’s first dress is one that I love for it’s Marilyn-esque vibe. I can totally imagine the blonde bombshell rocking a frock like this back in the day and now it’s your turn to wear something just as show-stopping. The cheapest of today’s dresses at a lowly £38 this Oh My Love dress is absolutely gorgeous and even more striking in person. I recently spotted this dress at Topshop on Oxford Street in the concessions section and fell head over heels, it’s extremely well-priced for such a perfect piece. Will this be your NYE dress?

The second dress today is this gorgeous holographic style piece from Missguided. The holographic trend has been brought back in a big way by designers since the ’90s Spice Girls take on the trend. This £58.99 frock is one that not everyone will be as brave to wear, so you’ll definitely be making a serious style statement by stepping out in this. NYE is all about celebrating in style (and shimmer) so if you feel like being the brightest star at the party, look no further.

If you love the idea of a sequinned dress, but don’t want to look too ‘young’, then this wrap dress by Rare will be right up your street. In a sexy skin-colour with shiny gold sequins, this £59 dress is more demure and mature than some of today’s other picks. Wrap dresses are famous for hiding the ‘multitude of sins’ we’re all afraid of and particularly after an indulgent holiday season this might just be perfect for highlighting areas you love and hiding others you don’t.

We’re upping the glamour ante now with today’s fourth dress; a shimmery Mermaid-esque dress that really breaks the mould. The iridescent shimmer on this Motel number is unlike any other sequinned frock spotted on the high street right now, and just imagine what it’ll look like under those party lights. The flattering sleeve length means you’ll feel sexy without being on show, and for those conscious of their upper arms, it’s a godsend. At £58 this dress won’t break the bank but it’s sure to have you feeling a million dollars.

In at number five today is a refreshingly different dress from today’s sequinned and shimmering pieces. I love that this feminine tutu-esque frock is made more edgy with its velvet, gothic vibe. I’d team this with a statement necklace and killer heels, and maybe with an embellished clutch bag to really nail the opulent trend seen everywhere right now. The nipped in waist is going to give you an amazing hourglass figure, and as with many of today’s dresses, the fit is going to flatter and skim over areas you’d rather not highlight. This moody, Black Swan style frock is only £20 in the sale and available from Motel.

Back to the sequins now with another flattering frock from Missguided. Peplums are a great way to take attention away from your tummy area and highlight your waist, so are perfect for post-Christmas, and this sequinned peplum is as glamorous as it gets. If a sequinned dress can ever be more conservative, I’d say that this is it, as the long-sleeves and more demure shape make it more appropriate for those who want to stay a little covered up. For only £45.99, this dress is eye-catching, but will keep you looking classy and most importantly comfortable all night.

Last but by no means least is today’s final dress; a rather sci-fi silver sequin dress that takes the metallic trend to a whole other level. While there’s no need for any accessories with this frock, I love the idea of pairing this with a red lip and loose chignon style up-do to add some romance and really show off the gorgeous neckline of the dress. As with most sequin frocks this steals the show, so all you need are some neutral or black shoes and a clutch and you’re out of the door, just like that. For £65 from Topshop, this shimmering fantasy-style frock is definitely going to turn heads for all the right reasons, so what are you waiting for?

That’s it for today’s NYE styling post, I hope it helps you find your dream dress for when midnight strikes. Let me know if you plan to pick up anything from today’s post or what your go-to NYE dress is by leaving me a comment or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
