Get the look: Galaxy Print (as seen on Jessie J)

Patterned and printed pieces are the perfect wardrobe additions, and an easy way to keep your look up to date. One of the latest prints to have a comeback is galaxy print, arguably thanks to the Queen of Print, Jessie J. Jessie was photographed a little while ago in a gorgeous galaxy print jumpsuit which wasn’t for the faint hearted, but of course, she pulled it off like a pro. Since then galaxy prints have been popping up on the high street in an array of wearable styles perfect for summer, they really are out of this world! (I had to!)

Don’t despair if the thought of going out in full on Jessie J style leaves you less than enthused, there are some great galaxy pieces that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe, and better yet, when paired with your basics they’re bound to make a style impact.

Leggings, as in the photo above, are a great way to add some galaxy to your outfit. This year they’re bound to be a festival staple, and when paired with a fringed or studded top, they’ll be all you need to while away those summer evenings listening to your favourite bands. If a more reserved look is what you’re after, why not layer them over with your favourite tee and/or neutral skirt or shorts to really set them off and tone them down? To maximise your LBD you can always swap these leggings for your tights, grab some killer heels and you’re all set to really make a style statement on an evening.

Leggings this versatile luckily don’t have to come with a crazy price tag. These pairs from the high street are both extremely affordable and on-trend, you can’t argue with that! These gorgeous darker leggings from Missguided are great if you really want to be noticed as they’re bright and fun and even better are only £9.99. If galaxy’s a style you want to try a few times, or aren’t sure about, these £9.99 leggings are perfect for you as they won’t break the bank but will definitely give you that punchy galaxy effect.

If you’re after more subdued colours and leggings that can span day to night a little better, these Topshop leggings are perfect. The soft green and blue hues aren’t as harsh as the bright purple ones above, and you could even add edge to a more romantic outfit by pairing these with floaty layers and sheer fabrics. These gorgeous leggings will set you back £12 more than the Missguided ones at £22, but if you think these are going to be your new best friends this summer, they’re worth the investment.

If the thought of galaxy leggings is still not resonating with you, how about something even more simple? These shorts from Boohoo are a great compromise as they are still loud, but they’re even easier to pair with your basics, and you can try out that trend for just £8. A simple white tee and your favourite blazer would tone down these shorts for lunch with friends, and adding a pair of heels would make them night out ready!

For even the most reserved fashion lover, this galaxy body, also from Boohoo is a fabulous compromise. This can be teamed with your trusty jeans and layered over for a more subdued, easily wearable effect, or amped up with shorts for a fun festival look. Again, for only £10 it’s not a huge investment, but a small print injection for your summer wardrobe.

Printed dresses are what I would consider a wardrobe staple, as they can be dressed up or down, and when teamed with heels make a great go-to outfit for evenings out. When a girl is strapped for time, there’s nothing better than a stand out wardrobe piece that can she can thrown on, that will really go the distance and that can be worn several different ways for different events. One of my favourite bloggers, Frassy, showed off her fashion credentials in this fab galaxy frock recently, and you can get the look on the high street too.

Though Frassy’s gorgeous Motel frock has since sold out, this River Island racer front scuba dress is just as head turning. This fab frock is just screaming to be taken to a stylish party, and for only £28, this high street find is an utter steal. Team this with your favourite black heels and bold accessories to really up the style stakes, and don’t forget a killer clutch bag!

For a dress that can traverse day and night, look no further than this fun Boohoo frock that comes in at a lowly £12. For that bargainous price, this dress will be your new best friend. Team it with a pastel blazer and some converse for a city chic daytime look, and just add some heels and a statement clutch to take this instantly to evening. It’s that simple!

That’s it for today’s get the look post, I hope this inspires you to add a little galaxy print into your wardrobe. If you’re already a galaxy print lover, how do you wear your pieces and what styles have you tried out recently? I’d love to know, leave me a comment below or tweet me @MillieDelacoe.
