At the moment, a day full of sunshine is a rarity as we’re enduring a rather dismal May, so when last Saturday the sun came out and summer felt almost here, we decided to make the most of it. There are so many things going on in London at the moment which I wanted to get involved in, so my boyfriend and I spent the day being culture vultures and wandering our fair city. I thought I’d post up my outfit for the day, as it was all high street and balanced casual, functional pieces with fun accessories! When I think dressing for summer, I always think nautical, because I love stripes and reminiscing about days spent in the sun by the sea, so that’s where my inspiration came from!
I’m wearing a Primark striped dress which was a steal at £10, and which is due to be part of an upcoming summer basics post. I accessorised with a vintage scarf that I believe I paid about £2 for many years ago in a vintage store in my uni town, and which I love for a nautical injection into any outfit. I paired my dress with Primark leggings, a River Island belt and my comfy converse, which I live in and layered this outfit over with my mustard coat from Peacocks just to add an extra fun dash of colour.
Jewellery wise I opted for some vintage pearl studs and this super cute anchor bracelet which I picked up in an Accessorize sale a few years ago, you can’t get much more nautical than an anchor!
To top off the outfit I went for a red lip and this particular lipstick is Maybelline’s Colour Sensational lipstick in 530 Fatal Red which is the most gorgeous colour and the formula is great; really long-lasting colour but not drying on the lips. Top marks from me.
As usual I thought I’d show you a few snippets from our day, we started off at The Natural History Museum for Gunther Von Hagens’ Animal Inside Out exhibition (my boyfriend’s choice) and then moved on to the Hermes Leather Forever Exhibition at the Royal Academy of the Arts (my choice!) and an exhibition that I would highly recommend to luxury label and handbag lovers alike. Leather Forever finishes next week so make sure to take a trip soon!
We then wandered through the Burlington Arcade, had a browse in Fortnum & Mason and Laduree and then ended up eating ice cream in Hyde Park, it was one of those perfect days where the typical British weather held out for us and we squeezed in loads of activities. Enjoy the pictures!
That’s it for today’s OOTD, I hope you like it and it might inspire your summer wardrobe too! Let me know what you’ve been loving from the high street at the moment and what your go-to pieces are by leaving me a comment or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. As usual Videos of the Week will be posted up later this afternoon, so get ready for some more fashion and beauty on its way then. Until next time…
