Elle’s Kristen Stewart issue hits news stands

This may be one of the things I am most excited about this month. Being a huge Kristen Stewart fan I’m looking forward to her gracing the cover of Elle again this month. The cover looks absolutely amazing and oh-so Mad Men so you can imagine why I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. After tweeting that they were meeting Kristen for a shoot about two months ago, Elle sent K-Stew fans everywhere into overdrive as we tried to guess how soon she’d be their cover girl. Lucky for us, we didn’t have to wait too long, and this issue ties in perfectly with her imminent movie release; Snow White and the Huntsman. Hitting cinemas on June 1st, K-Stew’s latest movie will most definitely be in my June dates post, but for now you can pick up a copy of Elle to hear her chatting all about it.

For those who love Kristen and her style as much as moi, a special style inspiration post all about the lady herself is on its way this week, so stay tuned here on the blog!

Monday 7th May
The Met Ball live stream

News flash fashion lovers! This year the Met Ball in New York is taking a technological turn and streaming the red carpet event live for all to see! That’s right, on bank holiday Monday at 11.30pm GMT Amazon, American Vogue and The Met website will be live streaming the red carpet arrivals at the star studded event, just like the Oscars! Being as the Met Ball is one of my favourite fashion events in terms of celeb spotting and of course, the dresses, I love that this year we get to see it all as it happens, (and send Twitter into a meltdown with constant updates). I know where I’ll be that night, can you imagine anything better than being snuggled up in bed (on what will no doubt be a freezing night), with a cup of tea and lots of cushions, spotting your favourite stars doing all the hard fashion work across the pond. Perfect.

Of course I’ll be live tweeting throughout the Met Ball arrivals on Monday if you want to follow me @MillieDelacoe and you can expect an extra special Met Ball dresses post the following morning to boot, so keep your eyes peeled on Tuesday the 8th for that.

Tuesday 8th May
Leather Forever Hermes Exhibition Opens

Fashion lovers can’t miss out on Hermes’ Leather Forever exhibition which opens its doors in London on the 8th March. The exhibition, which celebrates Hermes’ 175th anniversary features live artisans creating the brand’s iconic bags, and displays of its most famous and fabulous pieces. With insight into the history of the brand, the exhibition features the ever elegant Birkin and Kelly bags and even pieces gifted to Wallis Simpson by the Duke of Windsor. Taking place at The Royal Academy of the Arts’ sister space, 6 Burlington Gardens, this is set to be a must-see for anyone who’d love a peek into the world of a luxury brand and above all who has a penchant for handbags. That’s me. This is a perfect weekend activity that won’t cost you a penny as the exhibition is completely free, unlike the bags unfortunately! A girl can dream.

Saturday 19th May
Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950 opens at the V&A

It feels like I’ve waited forever and a day for this exhibition to come around. Having heard about it so long ago now, I thought the day would never come, yet here it is, and I cannot wait to step foot inside this amazing exhibition. This extra special ballgowns exhibition, which will run until January 2013 at the V&A charts 60 years of stylish evening wear. The exhibition offers a comprehensive look into how styles and silhouettes have changed over the 60 years featured in the exhibition and the V&A claims the collection is ‘mostly couture’. Oh my. From dresses worn for royal occasions, to dresses that have graced the catwalk, the exhibition displays the very best British ballgowns for us all to swoon over. Famous pieces from Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Jonathan Saunders, to Erdem will have pride of place as well as pieces worn by Elizabeth Hurley, Princess Diana, and the Queen Mother. To me this is an absolute must see, and booking is advised though tickets are just £11.50 for a standard and much less for concessions. For full ticket information click here.

Paloma Faith releases new album ‘Fall To Grace’

There seems to be a trend this year whereby at the end of every month, one of my favourite female singers releases an album. I’m not looking forward to a month where at the end, there isn’t something new for me to fall in love with. I started off the year with Lana Del Rey, then at the end of April it was all about Marina and the Diamonds and now at the end of May it’ll be all about Paloma Faith. I have adored her since day one, when I heard ‘Stone Cold Sober’ on the radio and thought, ‘I need to hear more!’ Now she’s back with her second ‘cinematic’ album ‘Fall To Grace’.

One of my favourite songs in the world is ‘New York’ from her first album ‘Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful’ and I’m sure there’ll be some new favourites on her latest album, I’m already loving ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ which is the first single from this new album. It goes without saying that I love people who are unafraid to make a fashion statement and really go for it in the fashion department, and Paloma does just that, she’s always flying her own fabulous fashion flag. Stay tuned for a style inspiration post to coincide with Paloma’s new album release and for now enjoy her latest video, her incredible voice, and the amazing styling too!

That’s it for this month’s dates post, I hope you’ve found it helpful and it might help make your month even better! Let me know if you’re planning on getting involved in any of the events, I’d love to know, just leave me a comment below or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Tomorrow’s post will be my April Favourites and I’m super excited to show you guys what I’ve been loving this month. Until next time…

Millie x
