It’s the collection that everyone’s been talking about, wearing, and of course lusting after like crazy. Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent AW13 range worked the key trends of this autumn/winter, ditsy florals punked up with boots, lashings of grungy black and more tartan than an episode of Monarch of The Glen. On Friday here on the blog, I showed you Primark’s version of one of the tartan dresses from the collection (here), but today, I’ve found some great Saint Laurent inspired pieces in New Look, that can create a great capsule collection.
The Dress
Ditsy dresses like these were all over the catwalk, and this classic tea dress shape is universally flattering for us ladies. The cut-outs give it a modern edge, while the skirt is perfect for juxtapositioning with more masculine boots. To really give this £22.99 dress even ore fashion mileage, you could always throw over a biker jumper like the one featured today, to keep extra cosy.
The Tee
Tartan and check was everywhere on the Saint Laurent catwalk, and this black, flocked check top is a great nod to the trend for £14.99. The sheer panels add extra modernity and the mixing of textures is bang on for autumn/winter. The flocked and sheer mix will look amazing with leather look trousers and/or clashed up with a tartan skirt if you’re feeling more brave and fashion forward.
The Jumper
This biker jumper screams rock chic and is dying to be thrown over more feminine dresses and teamed with skirts. Just add your favourite worn-look boots like the ones featured today for an easy, on-trend look that won’t break the bank. This jumper is just £24.99 and has gorgeous ribbing and detailing along the sleeves for extra interest. You could make this even more polished by throwing over a statement necklace too to really amp it up further.
The Skirt
There’s more amazing tartan now, and you can’t go wrong with a flattering skater skirt, especially for £17.99. This cute shape adds femininity and a girly edge to the look, while teaming this with opaque tights, some boots and a chunky knit would help edge it up, along with some spiked accessories. Take this from the office to after work drinks with a switch to heels and a smart jacket.
The Boots
These looks today are all about the masculine, grungy edge, and with that come boots. Save yourself a fare few pennies by splurging on this £64.99 pair opposed to Saint Laurent’s uber expensive versions, and wear them all winter long with your favourite grungy ensembles. Tea dresses, skirts or just your off-duty jeans and jumper combos will instantly look more considered.
