So for those of you that have already read my August Glossybox contents post, this may be slightly confusing. This month us Glossybox subscribers had a nice surprise in receiving our August Glossyboxes nice and early and so I hadn’t even had the chance to fully review the July box yet! Nevertheless, here’s my indepth review of the July box, for those who wanted to know how I got along with the products that were featured in it.
The first product was a Bex London fragrance sample, which after initially testing, I didn’t try again as the scent was just not for me. Again, the idea behind the product and the branding is really good, the scent just didn’t cut it unfortunately.
The second product is one that I really enjoyed, however wouldn’t repurchase. The Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist was really great for taking to the beach and carrying around in my handbag to spritz on when it got hot, halfway through the month my boyfriend completely stole this for himself due to it’s cooling effect and was constantly misting his own face! We both enjoyed the cooling effect of this, but there are other cheaper sprays that do the same job, and though this one was pleasant, it is expensive for what it is and didn’t seem to provide any benefits other than the cooling effect.
Thirdly was the Monu eye cool gel, which I enjoy using, however cannot say has changed my life. Although the cooling effect is pleasant on tired eyes, it didn’t make that much of a difference to the appearance of my eyes, so to speak. This may be better for those who wake up with severely puffy eyes, as I have a problem with under eye circles, but not so much with puffiness which this product is aimed at.
The fourth product last month was the Jelly Pong Pong Irish Cream Pavlova lip frosting, and this unsurprisingly turned out to be my favourite. Despite not being an irish cream or pavlova fan, the scent is amazing, and the gloss is a gorgeous coral colour that can be more muted or a full on colour pop depending on how much you apply. I have a love/hate relationship with the packaging as I think it’s super cute, just not very practical as you have to be so careful you don’t get too much product out of the tube, it is almost like a mini toothpaste tube. Other than that it’s top marks for this, I’d love to see more quirky cosmetics like this in our Glossyboxes.
Product number five this month was the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse which is the second thing from this box that I was highly impressed with. Although we received a hair oil two or three boxes back, I wanted to try this one to see if it differed. I would definitely say that this was better and I used this religiously on holiday after I’d been to the beach and showered. I did think that it contributed to keeping my hair in good condition after spending most days in the sea and drying out in the sun. It smells lovely and is quite a thin consistency so it doesn’t feel ‘built up’ in your hair. I used this mostly on damp hair but it’s great for taming unruly ends too when your hair’s dry.
Lastly the bonus product this month was a sample of the Elizabeth Arden Gentle Hydrating Skin line which I also used while I was away. Included in the sachets was face wash, serum and moisturiser, all of which I found pleasant and left my skin super soft the next morning. Although this line felt really luxe and hydrated my skin, I won’t be incorporating it into my regime purely as it’s a line aimed at hydration whereas blemish fighting products are more my bag of late as I need to concentrate on clear rather than hydrated skin. It’s still a gorgeous line though if your skin is already pretty clear.
That’s it for my follow up review of July’s box, my August Glossybox contents post is already up for those of you interested in that. The August follow up will be along in about a fortnight, with plenty of other fashion and beauty posts in the meantime! I hope you enjoyed today’s post, let me know your experience with these products, I’d love to know! Just leave me a comment below or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…
