OOTD: Some Sunny Sunday

An OOTD for you today and despite the fact that it’s officially autumn now, the sun is still out in the city. On Sunday my boyfriend and I visited the Wellcome Gallery in North London for the Superhuman exhibition and spent the rest of the day awandering the city. It was my last chance to don a summery ensemble so I picked my favourite summer dress and had some fun with bright accessories.

I’m wearing this cute floral and polka dot frock that I picked up a few years ago in TK Maxx. This is one staple dress that I wear to death come summer as it never really goes out of style and the classic shape means it’s always flattering.

I teamed the bright dress with my pink lips clutch from Johnny Loves Rosie at ASOS. This gorgeous bag reminds me so much of the Lulu Guinness bags and can be worn as a clutch just like the originals too. I did a whole post on this bag a while back so I’ll link that here. Shoes-wise I opted for some H&M sandals that I also have treasured for many years as they’re super comfy and give you just enough height without being too dressy. The only piece of jewellery I wore was my faithful Urban Outfitters ‘M’ pendant which just adds a little more personality to the outfit without detracting from the print and statement bag. The sunglasses are H&M and are instore now and for those wondering my toes are painted with one of my all time favourite polishes Barry M’s Shocking Pink.

Being as I’ve joined the world of instagram I thought I’d include my pictures from the ‘sunny Sunday’ below, you can find me on Instagram as camilladelacoe.

1. Finally finding the Katy Perry US Elle 2. The Johnny Loves Rosie Lips Clutch 3. Vintage store Pop in Covent Garden 4. Cappuccino and a Coconut and Chocolate Muffin at the Wellcome Gallery Cafe.

I hope you like the outfit, do let me know what you think about this summery ensemble by leaving me a comment or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe, I love hearing your views and opinions on how you would style this dress. Until next time…

Get the Look: Vintage Style Beachwear

Now that Britain has suddenly found itself in the midst of a heatwave, we can actually start thinking about the beach! While there’s an abundance of beach ready goods out there on the high street, you can’t get more figure flattering, confidence boosting shapes, than typical vintage style bikinis and swimsuits. Today I’m going to show you how to get the much coveted vintage look on the beach, and it’s easier to pick out pieces than you might think. Accessories wise, vintage style beachwear means everything from cutesy cat eye sunnies, to bold, bright bags, so what are you waiting for, let the vintage lookbook inspire you and then I’ll show you how to replicate it on the high street.

Where better to start than with swimwear itself, the key ingredient for a stunning summer beach look. You can’t get much more ‘pin-up’ than polka dots, so make like Marilyn and opt for polka dotted bikinis to really give you that vintage look. These two River Island bikinis are super cute and perfect for teaming under bralets and shorts before the beach too. As with most of River Island‘s bikinis, each part is sold separately so you can make sure it’s the perfect fit, and each top is £15 while the bottoms are £10.

If polka dot’s not your thing, but you still want that vintage feel, look out for whimsical and nautical prints. That means sailor chic and fruit, tattoo and even geometric patterns that catch your eye that can be worked in a retro way.

For when splashing around in the waves is over, a cute two piece outfit is always going to give that timeless vintage look. Topshop‘s two pieces are amazing this season, and these two are my ultimate favourites.

This first gingham one is totally Marilyn and would look gorgeous teamed with some red wedges and huge sunnies! Even is the sea’s not your thing, this two piece definitely needs a picnic outing at the beach this summer and for £28 for the set it’s really reasonably priced too. What could be better?

For a similar price, (just £2 less) and also from Topshop is this gorgeous tropical meets floral two piece that’s bound to cause a stir. This set screams South Pacific and when teamed with a cute headscarf and woven bag will add that cute vintage edge to your day at the seaside.

If a full cover up is more to your taste, a playsuit can be a great compromise in hot weather. You can still keep yourself covered up, but without overheating, and of course, with this gorgeous mint playsuit, style is definitely still on the cards. The retro white belt gives this £46 Topshop playsuit such a ’60s edge and the cinched waist and cupped bust means that an hourglass figure is yours for the taking.

Finally, where would we be without our accessories? Every girl needs a tote come summer to fit in all her fabulous beachwear, and this River Island tote has seriously stolen my heart. At £100 it comes at a higher price than I’d like, but for a real leather, seriously timeless tote, I think it’s a worthwhile investment for years of beach summers ahead.

Shielding your eyes from the sun’s rays means us girls need our specs, and while there are some fabulous cat eye sunnies out there right now in every store imaginable on the high street, I couldn’t help but feature these gorgeous H&M glasses. In a suitably aqua blue these frames are retro heaven and a mere snip at £6.99, you can’t afford not to snap these up!

That’s it for today’s get the look post, I hope it helped you get vintage ready for the beach this summer. What are your favourite vintage look pieces from the high street at the moment, and are there any pieces here that have taken your fancy? Let me know by leaving me a comment or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…

Bargain of the Week: Pastel Cashmere Jumper

It has long been an aspiration of mine to own a gorgeous cashmere jumper. Ordinarily they’re out of my price range, and let’s face it, the less expensive ones aren’t always the nicest either. I had resigned myself to the fact that owning a lovely real cashmere jumper was going to have to wait, that was until I found my dream jumper this weekend!

My boyfriend and I were wandering Portobello and I was in one of my charity shop routing moods when we went into Fara just off Portobello Road itself. As I was routing around I spotted something in the corner of my eye in the most gorgeous pastel blue, and as I grabbed it from the rack I realised not only was it a beautiful blue jumper, but it was 100% cashmere. I paid a lowly £20 for this brand new, never-been-worn jumper with the tags still on, and originally it should have been around £80+ from M&S. What a bargain!

This is how I’m going to style my jumper, with floral jeans and a jewelled necklace to give it a bit more of a youthful vibe. It’s adding a bit of luxe to this planned outfit and it’s hands-down the softest thing I own! I can’t wait to use this as a pullover this summer, but also wear it all winter long with a multitude of ensembles. The pastel hue is perfect for pairing with so many things I have in my wardrobe, and I’ve even tried wearing it under a pastel pink blazer, it goes with everything!

Incase you’re interested in any of the other pieces featured, the floral jeans are from Primark (£13 and still in stock) and I did a whole post on them a few weeks ago, (click here to read that), the jewelled necklace is H&M, (£9.99 and still in stock) and the shoes were from Primark around two years ago so unfortunately they’re not available anymore!

That’s it for today’s bargain of the week, I hope it gives you some wardrobe inspiration! What bargains have you guys come across lately and what’s the best thing you’ve ever found in a charity shop? Let me know by leaving me a comment below or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…

Get Citizens of Humanity style floral jeans at Primark!

It’s official, Citizens of Humanity’s mandy floral jeans have been everywhere in recent months. I first spotted the floral denim on one of my favourite bloggers, Cheetah Is The New Black and since then have been besotted with them. It seems everyone who’s anyone in the blogosphere has bagged themselves a pair of this season’s £120+ ‘it’ jeans, and now you can get your hands on an almost identical pair for just £13 on the high street!

Above, one of my favourite bloggers Cheetah Is The New Black puts her spin on the Citizens of Humanity jeans, and it was this picture that made me fall for them in the first place.

As if they weren’t already incredible, then Lana Del Rey left her hotel in a pair, toning them down with a beige trench. Could they be more versatile?

Later Lana ditched the trench and hit the stage in them, creating another look again with a pair of beige heels.

Now is your chance to be seen in them! Primark is the place to pick up designer doubles this season, what with their Prada-esque car print (read my post on it here) and their Prabal Gurung style prom dress, but now they’ve stepped up to the mark and made the most amazing copies of the much-coveted Citizens of Humanity jeans too.

These gorgeous skinnies are so chic, yet so comfortable. I have worn little else since buying them little over a fortnight ago and cannot tell you how easy to wear they are. I’ve gone super glam and teamed mine with a gold jumper and grungy hardware and also toned them down with a navy roll sleeve tee for a relaxed daytime look. They’re easy to roll up if you want to wear them the Citizens of Humanity way, but they’re perfectly fitting for a more conventional skinny jean look too.

While the floral print on Primark’s jeans are more dense than the designer ones, they’re the perfect staple for your spring wardrobe. While I’m sure we’d all love to waltz around in skirts and shorts all day, the weather just isn’t stable enough to go out like that in the UK just yet. These jeans are the perfect compromise as they’re summery and floral, yet sensible, comfortable and warm. That’s a combination I like.

You can pick these great designer doubles up instore at Primark now for just £13, a complete steal. I’d suggest trying them on before buying as Primark’s sizing is not the most reliable but I’ve found that mine fit wonderfully.

What do you think of today’s designer doubles? Will you be picking up a pair of these or do you already love your original pair? Let me know as usual by tweeting me or commenting below. Until next time…

OOTD: Pansies, skulls + sunshine

So this week I had some time off work and spent a few days chilling with my family which was amazing. My parents were staying in Rye for a mini-break so I hopped on the train from London to meet them for a few sunny days of relaxation. Being as the sun was out in force my legs made their first sans-tights appearance of the year and I thought I’d go a bit colour crazy too in ode to the good weather.

I’m wearing one of my favourite dresses which I bought from Topshop about two years ago in a sale and it has some gorgeous frill detailing and a fabulous pansy and skull pattern which I think is so eye-catching. Florals are always a big hit for spring/summer but I love that the skulls add extra interest to this dress and give it a bit of an edge. I teamed my dress with my very favourite coat which you may have seen before due to my wearing it on every occasion possible. Incase you haven’t heard me waffle on about it before it was a lowly £6 in a Peacocks sale also about two years ago, maybe even three now! The shoes are just some black wedges from New Look and are great for everyday as they are almost, just almost, a flatform so they’re super comfy but don’t compromise on height or style! Lastly my black handbag is from Primark, as a lot of my accessories are!

Surprise, surprise I’m wearing my ever faithful ASOS watch as I always do and I love how it matches my nails! The nail polish is Bleu Model from Bourjois’ So Laque collection. I’m wearing my new lips ring and new chain necklace from H&M which I bought last week, the ring was £2.99 I believe and the necklace was £5.99 and they are both still available instore. I bought the necklace to add toughness to some of my more feminine pieces just to balance them out. As you may know I’m currently feeling more grungy looks so this is the perfect necklace to add edge to a girly dress. As usual, (on a sunny day at least) it’s my Claire’s Accessories sunglasses that I have with me as I love them so much and rarely deviate from wearing them in favour of another pair.

I hope this post gave you some insight into how I wear my high street pieces and inspired you to rock some colour this spring! My next OOTD will be my outfit from a day in Calais that we enjoyed while I was with my parents, so keep your eyes peeled for that one, it should be up in the next few days! Let me know what you think of this ensemble, I love hearing your views and as ever you can tweet me @MillieDelacoe too. Until next time…

March Favourites

The month of March is almost over and that means it’s time for a round up of all the products I picked up this month that I’ve been loving. Surprisingly for me I did hardly any shopping this month, but the few bits I did pick up have really given my wardrobe and make up bag a new lease of life and I love them! So without further ado let’s crack on with my March picks. Enjoy!

Number one is a pair of floral jeans that I’m sure you’ve already heard about here on the blog. I picked up these gorgeous floral skinnies from Monki on Carnaby Street earlier this month and have worn little else since. As we know clashing prints are super hot for this year so I really wanted an amazing pair of trousers to work the look, and that’s when I came across these. Having never shopped in Monki before I was surprised at how reasonably priced these were seeing as they are so on-trend and look way more expensive than the £30 I paid for them. I can assure you that they’re still instore if they take your fancy, and you can shop online at monki.com too if you don’t live in the London area.

They are honestly some of the comfiest jeans I own, they’re super soft and I’ve found them so versatile especially since the weather has warmed up, they go with everything! I’ll incorporate them into an outfit of the day post soon so you can get a good look at how I pair them with other pieces, but for now here’s the picture of them I posted earlier this month. If you’d like to read the post about when I bought them you can click here to read that.

Number two is Tank magazine which is a quarterly magazine which I absolutely love for the fashion spreads. I went on a bit of a magazine binge this month and bought about six different magazines all at once in WHSmith, this being one of them. I’d just seen the lovely Jen of The Style Crusader blog about her love for print media and this magazine in particular so I thought I’d pick it up and give it a go. Predictably my favourite visuals from the mag are the Imogen Poots pictures, one of which is used on the cover. Dressed head to toe in Prada throughout the spread Imogen looks absolutely beautiful and I couldn’t resist pulling out some of the pictures for my ever expanding collection of scrapbooks.

I know lots of people hate the thought of ripping up their favourite magazines, but personally I enjoy pages more when I’ve got them in my scrapbook which I revisit very regularly. Although I do keep a lot of my favourite magazines intact I rarely re-read them and think it’s a shame not to revisit the images more often. So there we go. Tank is still available in WHSmith now if you want to pick it up, I highly recommend it. Of course I’m going on about the pictures so much because they were what struck me first, but there are some great reads in there and it’s refreshing to read something that takes more than a lowly 20 minutes to read cover to cover. You can read The Style Crusader’s post all about Tank on her blog by clicking here.

Next up number three is a cheeky addition as technically I got this pop phone for my birthday in February from my boyfriend. Incase you don’t know, a pop phone is a conventional cord phone which plugs into your mobile so that you can call people from a retro style handset. Being as talkative as I am, a five minute phone call to me always ends up being an hour long and a mobile isn’t the comfiest thing to have pressed up against your ear. Enter my pop phone, so much better to natter away on while lying on the sofa and you feel like you’re in a movie, so you can’t go wrong. It has only been in the last month that I’ve started using my bright green pop phone when I make calls at home as I had a few teething problems with my old mobile which didn’t want to connect to it, and kept hanging up calls whenever the recipient answered the phone. Doh! But now it connects like a dream, there’s no volume or quality issues and I love it! You can get these from most techy stores for around £20 and I’m pretty sure my boyfriend bought me mine from HMV, so there we go!

Number four is the most amazing polish I’ve bought in a while and I apologise that you can’t see it that well in the header image. It’s Barry M’s Lavender Hexograms and despite my best efforts the only place I could find it was at the Barry M stand in Topshop’s Oxford Street store other than on the Barry M site. As you may know I’m a sucker for glitter polishes and this is a glitter lover’s dream. The polish is made up of large purple hexagon glitter particles as well as regular purple glitter with a clear base. I wouldn’t wear this on its own as it wouldn’t be as effective, but it’s great as a glitter topcoat. I’m big fan of the Barry M nail polish formulas anyway so I didn’t think twice about picking this up for £2.99, but I’m so glad I did as it looks absolutely amazing. As soon as I got home from Topshop I started playing around with this polish and layered it over Grey Matter from Rimmel which is one of their 60 Seconds nail polishes. Here are the results.

Number five is the Mary-Kate and Ashley April issue of Elle which came out this month and which I couldn’t get my hands on fast enough. As a coveter of all that is MK+A I loved this insight into their world and of course the gorgeous images from both the cover and the interview. I won’t go too into the magazine, (which is still available by the way), because I posted about it in my Mary-Kate and Ashley style inspiration post this month so click here to check that out.

Number six is the most recent purchase and discovery from the March favourites and it’s the Vaseline Creme Brulee lipbalm. It’s pretty much a no-brainer as I already love the Vaseline Rose lipbalm, am definitely a dessert person and can always use some hydration for my dry lips so hey presto, I picked it up at Superdrug. I resisted for a few weeks after initially spotting it as I thought I had so many lipbalms I just didn’t need another, but for £2.99 and with an uh-ma-zing smell I could resist no longer. As you’d expect from Vaseline it does the job and keep my lips feeling super hydrated and smooth, it leaves a light gloss on the lips but it’s not sticky and it lasts quite well so re-application won’t be a constant issue. Did I mention it smells like creme brulee? Big thumbs up from me.

Last but by no means least number seven is my amazing gold jumper from H&M which is possibly one of the best things I have ever bought. Yes, ever. It’s probably too early to say, but I don’t think I will ever get tired of this. Again, it’s the crazier items in my wardrobe (like the floral jeans) that I find most versatile because you can pair them with anything. If you clash them it’s cool, and if you pair them with basics it’s not too overwhelming and is more understated, so this jumper is so easy to wear. For £9.99 I think this was an absolute steal and I love pairing it with statement necklaces and skinny jeans. Instead of ending up writing a lengthy love letter to my jumper I thought I’d just link you to my OOTD post where I wore it and talked about it some more, and then show you a picture of me wearing it.

That’s it for this month’s favourites, what have you been loving this month and do you have any suggestions of things you think I’d like? Let me know by leaving me a comment or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. As more and more get uploaded I’ll pop some March Favourites videos below from some of my favourite Youtubers for you to check out, but that’s all for now! Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the April dates you need in your diary post which will be up on Sunday the 1st April! Until next time…

Style Inspiration: Print + Pattern

There’s nothing I love more than a good patterned piece for my wardrobe. A great print can instantly lift your mood and help perk up an otherwise lifeless outfit. I’m having a bit of a love affair with print at the moment as you can probably tell from my Monki floral jeans (click here) and my lip and polka dot print dress from River Island that I featured as an impulse purchase, (click here). If you love print as much as I, enjoy today’s little inspirational post and don’t forget to add some sunshine to your wardrobe this week.
