Style Inspiration: The Pastel Lookbook

Today I bring you my style inspiration post all about this year’s huge spring/summer trend: pastels. The feminine, sweet-shop style colours are perfect for a prim look and easier to wear than you might imagine (tip: just get mixing!) I like to bounce between wearing more masculine pieces and grunging down my look as I mentioned last week in my grunge lookbooks, but at the same time there’s nothing more fun than pulling your favourite pink piece out of your wardrobe and going super girly with your look. Every designer worth their salt paraded pastels up and down the runway at the SS’12 shows (I’m looking at you Meadham Kirchoff!) and it’s finally that time of year in the UK where we might just be able to don some pastels and enjoy some sun. Just maybe.

So without further ado, today here’s the pastel lookbook, part 1 of a 3 part pastel extravaganza that will be happening here on the blog for the next three days. Tomorrow you can look forward to a post all about the merging of two of my favourite trends: grunge and pastels, how to style the look and where to pick up the key pieces, and day 3 is all about this year’s hit mini-trend, what I’m calling pastec (pastel colours + aztec print). Stay tuned!

That’s it for today’s pastel lookbook, I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what your favourite looks were, and what pastel pieces you’ll be working this spring/summer by commenting below or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Don’t forget if you’re a lover of all things pastel, there are two more pastel inspired posts coming your way this week, so stay tuned. Until next time…

I was a bit hesitant about pastels to begin with but these past couple of weeks I’ve become obsessed. I really need to invest in some pastel nail varnish though!
