Outfit Of The Day: I Want Candy

OOTD: I Want Candy

Today we venture into my last post of the year- and it’s an aptly bright, party look ready for Christmas and New Year. New Look were kind enough to send me a parcel of gorgeous pieces to get party ready with, so I had to incorporate them into a fancy, festive look. First of all they sent me an array of make up bits- my favourite has to be the lipstick (here) which is super vivid and perfect for a colour pop lip. I found the formula quite moisturising and creamy, despite it being a matte lipstick, which is definitely a bonus when your lips are feeling dry in the winter months.

On to the outfit, and I couldn’t possibly feature the gorgeous bright lip without emphasising it with this amazing Laundry jacket. I picked this up for just £10 in the sale during the summer, and think the metallic strands running through it are perfect for this time of year. I love how this jacket can be thrown over black pieces to really add to the outfit. The velvet collared dress adds a little texture to the look, this one in particular is Missguided, and this is easy to take from day to night, so you can throw over the jacket and go! Of course Christmas party wouldn’t be a party without a cute clutch, and this gold coin bag from New Look (here) is perfection. At £10 this isn’t going to break the bank- chocolate or otherwise.

Finally to accent the gold of the bag, I opted for these Primark glitter boots which I live in at this time of year. They just add a Christmassy punch to everything I wear. Lastly I went for this New Look necklace with mesh detailing (here), to just add extra interest by popping out of the collar! That’s it for today’s post, let me know what you think of today’s look, I’d love to know! Until next time…

This Week’s Video: My Bag Collection!

Apologies for the tardy video- of course as you know this should have gone up Sunday, but then that’d be too easy wouldn’t it! Due to numerous circumstances it didn’t end up being uploaded when it should have been, but nevertheless now it’s here! Today’s video is my very last video before Christmas, and I thought this would be a bit of fun to make- and watch! You may be thinking of buying bags as gifts this year, asking for one for yourself, or planning on picking something up in the sales, so I thought I’d let you know what’s out there on the high street!

That’s it for today’s video, I hope that for those of you who asked about my Vivienne Westwood, you managed to get a good idea of the bag there. Also, I hope it showed that you don’t have to spend a tonne of money to get your mitts on a decent bag! That’s all for today, tune in next year for my December Haul and What I Got For Christmas video, and I’ll see you all soon! Until next time…

Outfit Of The Day: Penny Lane

OOTD: Penny Lane

Almost Famous has to be up there as one of my favourite films of all time, and of course, you can’t love that movie, without loving Kate Hudson’s Penny Lane. Her fluffy, seventies coat is as iconic as her character, and when I spotted this equally fluffy winter coat- I immediately wanted to create a modern twist on her look. The lovely guys at Asda asked me to style up some of their latest pieces- and I thought they lent themselves perfectly to this particular outfit- so let’s get into it…

OOTD: Penny Lane

First up of course is the coat, which has been my saviour this month as the cold weather has really set in. I’ve been looking out for one of these amazing ‘teddy’ coats for a while, and at £35 this Asda one (here) is affordable as well as super warm! To create a more lived-in looking outfit, I threw on my vintage Harley tee, which I bought off Depop a little while ago. Being as I’m massively into midi skirts, and tartan, I thought I’d add this Asda skirt (here) for extra interest and again to add to the more relaxed vibe. Finally I finished off the look with an amazing hat that I again found on Depop a while back, and threw on my trusty Dr Martens.

That’s it for today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you love Almost Famous aswell and who your favourite character is, I’d love to know! Likewise let me know what you think of today’s look, you can leave me a comment below and/or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Thanks again to Asda for letting me pick out these gorgeous winter pieces! I’ll see you all soon. Until next time…

This Week’s Video: Christmas Decorations!

It’s that time of year again, and like so many of you, I get extremely excited about Christmas, which is why I jumped at the chance to make this video for you, after it was so highly requested. Of course I want you guys to have a say in what videos go up on my channel, as you’re the audience, so I was so happy with all the requests that came through on my giveaway video! So many of you wanted to see how we decorate our place for Christmas, so I put up my tree, covered it in my wonderfully tacky ornaments, grabbed my camera and got stuck in…

I hope you enjoyed today’s short and sweet video! I received so many wonderful requests last month, so I’m going to work hard to bring those into fruition for you guys! You can expect a hair tutorial from me very soon, as well as a video about my holy grail products- I can’t wait to make both of them- amongst many others! Thanks again for watching and I’ll see you all soon! Until next time…

Outfits Of The Day: Mixing It Up

Missguided OOTDs

Today I have a super exciting post for you guys that includes, not one, but two outfit options, perfect for party season. Missguided challenged me to style up an outfit from their latest collection, with two different pairs of party shoes, so it’d be rude not to, right? I decided to take it one step further and choose gold accessories with one outfit, and silver with another- just to show you how versatile these items can be, and how to make them your own, be you a gold or silver lover!

The first outfit incorporates a tough gold chain, that emphasises the toughness of the shoes. The shoes are the Missguided Mairin, and as I mentioned in my Missguided haul over on my YT channel (here), I have wanted these for the longest time. They’re a great, more affordable alternative to the JC Scully which I adore, and definitely a steal at £26.99, (you can pick them up here). I’ve teamed the shoes with the Paxton shirt dress (here) and the amazing Katy faux fur coat (here) which I’ve been drooling over in all the Missguided TV adverts lately. I found it mandatory to belt this shirt dress so that I could retain my shape, but if you’re less curvy than me and look great in oversized pieces, this would make a great casual dress too! Finally I’ve gone for this cute heart shaped bag that my little brother bought me years ago, and that I always use at this time of year to pep up an outfit.

The second outfit is subtly different, and incorporates all silver hardware and accessories. To add to the drama and opulence, I added these Primark pearls. This necklace is absolutely huge and always a showstopper. The shirt dress and faux fur coat are the same as before but this time, I’ve gone for glitzier shoes. The Missguided Victoria is a fabulous space-age shoe, that obviously as a sci-fan fan I love! The mock suede criss-cross front adds texture and interest, while the silver heel adds instant glam. These bad boys are still affordable at £23.99 and are available here. To finish off the look, I went for this silver Topshop handbag in place of the heart-shaped one, and I love how it mirrors the shiny heel on the shoe!

That’s all for today guys, I hope this will help you get into the holiday spirit, and save you some money on getting party-prepared this season! Thanks again to the lovely guys at Missguided for the gorgeous items and allowing me to take part in the challenge, let me know what you think of how I styled the items- just leave me a comment below or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. This Week’s Video: A Missguided Party Haul!

Hello and welcome to this week’s video post. It’s coming up to Christmas and there’s no better time to get your hands on glam pieces ready for party season. When Missguided contacted me and asked if I wanted to style up some of their fancy footwear with a party perfect outfit, I of course leapt at the chance. It just so happens that this collaboration came about just as I bought myself some Missguided items too, so I thought I’d throw everything together into today’s haul!

That’s it for today’s haul, I hope you enjoyed it! As I mentioned in the video, most of the items featured in the video will be featured in a super special post this Wednesday here on the blog, so keep your eyes peeled for that! Until next time…

The SHTHS Guide To Christmas Shopping

SHTHS Christmas Gift Guide

Today is not about me telling you where to shop, or what to buy for your loved ones. Today I’m going to give you my tips on getting something really personal for your family and friends, aswell as how I stick to my budget year on year, and, (this is where I get really smug), all finished before the 1st of December. Now obviously for those who haven’t started, we’re nearing that deadline pretty fast- the only reason I mention it, is the prices go up exponentially throughout December (until they crash in the post-Christmas sales), so it literally pays to be early. The second reason is, the shops are manic after the 1st of December with people panic-buying anything remotely resembling a gift. When you’re whipped up into a frenzy on the high street like that, it can be hard to see the wood for the trees. Not good.

SHTHS Christmas Gift Guide

So, my tip is to get comfortable, grab a drink, a pen and paper, or your notes app. First set out your budget. How many people do you have to buy for? How much is your limit per person? Next, my biggest tip is to note down each person’s individual interests. From there you have a long list of items to look out for, and even to type into search bars to get them something super specific. For example, my best friend Hannah loves amongst other things; afternoon tea, pre-Raphaelite works, day-of-the-dead paraphernalia and Alice In Wonderland. If I type in afternoon tea and find an Alice In Wonderland tea set (something I have bought her in the past), I’d think that’s a pretty damn good present for her, that she’s going to love. This is also where listening comes in. Note down things your friends and family have pointed out to you in the past in stores, people drop hints like crazy this time of year!

My next tip is never to buy things instantly. Shop around. This is where shopping online comes in handy as you can search quickly and easily for the exact same thing, even using the serial or model numbers of the item. Keep a list of what you’ve bought and track your success. This’ll keep you focused on buying things for those you haven’t found something for already. When I’m out and about, even after buying a pile of things for my girls, I’m always seeing more and more things I could pick up for them- but this is where the spending can get out of control!

SHTHS Christmas Gift Guide

Wrap early. It’s almost like drawing a line under the job. You’re done. You can relax, and relax in the knowledge that you’ve picked out something they’ll love without bankrupting yourself too. It can be really easy to get overwhelmed by the choice at this time of year, and stick to your goals and budgets, so take time to come back from a shopping trip, reassess and carry on. Just take stock of what you’ve got, what you need, and remember that it’s supposed to be fun, not a grueling chore! That’s it for today’s post, let me know what you think of my tips for Christmas shopping and if you have any, and I’ll see you all soon. Until next time…
