It’s the complete antithesis to my current penchant for grungy, laidback ensembles, but it seems I can’t escape loving space age looks. I’m currently merging both space-style and grungy looks together as you might have noticed in a recent OOTD and it’s not about to stop. Not only is my love of sci-fi evident in my DVD and book collections, it’s now more than evident in my wardrobe, too. Super-structured pieces, metallics, white on white on white, I want it all, and today’s images serve to inspire and emphasise just why I love this trend. Want to feel your like your favourite protagonist, why not? You can still look chic while you’re at it. Some looks are extreme, some are more workable into your everyday attire, but one thing’s for sure, your fashion credentials are sure to rocket with this out-of-this-world inspiration.

A little while ago I pinned this simple yet slightly grungier style outfit worn by Selena Gomez. Now Selena isn’t usually a celeb that I’d look to for fashion inspiration, but something about this look caught my eye. I made a mental note to keep an eye out for a similar look on the high street, and today I’m glad to say, I’ve found an equivalent.
The top
My favourite part of the outfit is undoubtedly that cropped denim vest. It’s not quite a waistcoat and it’s not quite a crop top, which is why I found it so difficult to find something similar. On recently browsing the Monki website though, I found a dead ringer for Selena’s vest, and it’s only £20. It’s called the Erika and you can pick it up from the Monki site here.
The skirt
To finish off the look, I found a great light grey maxi skirt just like the one Selena is wearing. It’s more like a tube skirt fit, so it’s really flattering and doesn’t billow out and hide your body under swathes of fabric. This one is just £8.99 from New Look and is near enough the exact colour of Selena’s, you can pick it up on the New Look site here.
The suggestions
I love that this outfit is simple enough to team whatever you want with it. If you don’t want to keep it as simple as Selena, I’ve come up with some ideas of things that would go well if you wanted to ‘summer’ up this outfit a little. Go for the holographic trend with Monki’s Ulrike sandals (£25) here or H&M’s clutch bag (£14.99) here, or go for a more geo-traveller look by going for this embellished bib from New Look (£14.99) here.

Hello and welcome to this week’s She Hearts Sunday! In complete contrast to last week’s bumper post, this week I have three short, snappy hearts to share with you and to keep you occupied on your lazy Sunday afternoon. So grab your beverage of choice and we’ll get into it…
She Hearts…Daft Punk’s Album Release
Having been a fan since my pre-teens I’m sure I’m going to love this album, despite critics slating it for not having more ‘Get Lucky’ style tunes on it. While I really love ‘Get Lucky’ it’s not the sole reason for my love of the duo and so I’m by no means expecting this ‘new sound’ of theirs to be evident on every track. Any chance for me to listen to some more of my favourite guys is enough for me, ‘chart-worthy’ or not.
She Hearts…This ‘Postcard’ from Cabo
After watching this incredible cinematic postcard from Wendy of Wendy’s Lookbook, I am now dying for a holiday. This fun, sun-soaked, beautifully shot video was made to record all the highlights of blogger and vlogger Wendy and Mystery Man’s holiday in Cabo San Lucas and is so inspiring to watch. If you’re feeling like you need some sunshine and the dream of warmer climes, this should fit the bill.
She Hearts…H&M’s Fantastic Voyage
Named after the sci-fi movie featuring Raquel Welch, this H&M shoot is right up my street with its space-age credentials. Shot in the desert to give it a Mars-like look, I can’t wait to see the final images that will come out of this shoot. This behind-the-scenes video gives you a sneak peek of the set, the props, the clothes and of course the model in action and it’s well worth a watch!

Hello and welcome to today’s OOTD post, this outfit is slightly more casual than those I’ve had up here of late, and I thought it’d be nice to feature a more everyday look. This was something I threw together to go bargain-hunting with my boyfriend at the Battersea Boot Sale and then for wandering in the nearby Battersea Park. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to find much in the boot sale, two of my favourite things were way too big when I got them home, so they’re now on ebay! So all I have left of my ‘haul’ is a David Nicholls book and an oversized grey cardigan which does not constitute a haul at all! Anyway, on to the outfit.
My outfit started with this amazing shirt from Monki, I couldn’t resist the weird pattern and thought the mint colour would brighten up my current black wardrobe. To tone down the crazy pattern I opted for my high waisted black Stevie jeans, also from Monki and tucked my shirt into them to make the look a bit more preppy. Over the top I threw a studded black blazer from the brand Osley which I found in a boutique in Liverpool, they have this French brand in tonnes of boutiques though. Then I went for my Dr. Marten Clemency boots which I managed to bag on sale for just £65 in patent on the Office website.
Accessories-wise I opted for these two necklaces. The top one was from New Look last year and the second is from a great Etsy shop called Tentative Decisions. I’d been looking for a crystal like this everywhere and they have a great selection that’s affordable and not at a hugely inflated price! I picked up my crystal here.
On my nails I have Rimmel’s Silver Bullet topped with one of L’Oreal’s new nail confettis. I love monochrome so this salt and pepper manicure is right up my street. Starting on our left I’m wearing a vintage family ring, then a New Look skull ring and druzy ring that was a gift from my sister. Then I have a large and a small H&M ring. I’m all for the more is more look with my jewellery at the moment after taking a small hiatus and going super minimal, just pile it all on this summer I say!

Girl crush alert! If there’s one person whose style, and to be honest entire look I’m loving at the moment, it’s Sky Ferreira hands down. The up and coming singer is grunge personified and rocks more thrown together, could-care-less looks than I care to count. Whether she’s doing red carpet, or popping to get milk, her personal style is always evident, and don’t even get me started on that incredible hair. If you want some outfit inspiration, or are loving Sky just as much as me at the moment, this moodboard is for you.

Hello and welcome to today’s post, I have something a little different for you, and I think any online shopping addicts (like me) out there are going to love it. Let me introduce you to Mallzee, a great new site that helps you shop more concisely without trawling page after page of clothes from multiple stores. What’s better, Mallzee uses quizzes to find out your likes and dislikes and finds things just for you, that it thinks you’re going to adore. I’m already signed up to the site and have been playing around to get the best experience possible, and today I’m going to talk you through how you can use the site to get the best fashion picks ahead of the pack, and shop with your friends!
Watch the video to get the general gist, and then I’ll go through my experience with you step by step!
The easiest way to get signed up to Mallzee is through Facebook which is what I opted for, and it’s much easier to share your Mallzee activity this way and keep your friends in the loop. Then, you’ll take your quiz to discern what kind of items you love and loathe.
Likes and Dislikes
After selecting ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ on a few items, Mallzee will then ask you to select retailers that you’d like to see items from. There are a tonne of great retailers on here such as Motel Rocks, Urban Outfitters and New Look, all of which are well-loved brands (especially by me!) so you have lots of choice. You will then be taken to ‘Your Mallzee‘, which is the best part! All the items from the retailers you chose, to your taste preferences will be laid out in this showroom for you to shop and share at your own leisure.
Your Mallzee
Mallzee has obviously discovered my current love of completely black clothes in the picture above! There are some great items here that I might not have found if I was just scrolling aimlessly through all the sites I love. Here though, you’re less likely to miss the amazing things you do want to buy, and now you can start shopping! I found this amazing ASOS jacket and I can buy it (and then earn Mallzee dollars, like reward points!) or add it to ‘My Wardrobe’ which is an area you can store your favourite items to shop them later (like a wishlist) so you can get your friends’ opinions first.
Your Wardrobe
Now that this coat is stored in ‘My Wardrobe’ I can browse similar items that can either by styled with it, or that Mallzee thinks I might also like. I can also create a poll to help my friends decide if I should spend my money on this coat, or try something else.
So far, I have found the quiz surprisingly (and a little scarily) accurate, as I genuinely have found more than a few pieces that I really love through my Mallzee. Overall, I think this is a great way to shop online and saves loads of time. I like having all the best items from the best retailers show up for me like that, without having to search tirelessly for things that are ‘my style’. I love the social aspect too, and can’t wait for more of my friends (and you guys!) to sign up so we can all shop together and talk about the pieces we’re picking up. Let me know if you plan on signing up, and let me know when you do so we can all shop socially! I hope you have fun taking your quizzes! Until next time…

N.B. I’m not being compensated to talk about this in any way, and am posting about it completely of my own accord.
Hello and welcome to today’s bumper She Hearts post! Today I have five great hearts for you that include film, fashion, beauty and maybe even one of our favourite TV characters too! If you’re having an easy, lazy Sunday and want some inspiration at the click of a button, prepare to be entertained.
She Hearts…The Great Gatsby
I can’t quite believe Gatsby is almost here, I haven’t been able to stop daydreaming about how amazing Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation is going to be. After all, Baz is the man that made two of my favourite films ever- Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge. I have no doubt that Gatsby is set to sit amongst them. I won’t go into the plot, as I’m sure by now we’ve all been given enough info about it, but also the latest trailer is riddled with snapshots of important turning points in the film. Check out the trailer and book your tickets now for what will be the biggest cinematic event this year.
She Hearts…Daenerys Targaryen Make Up
Game of Thrones lovers listen up, because Youtuber Emma Pickles has come up with the best video ever. If you’ve ever wondered how to get the gorgeous look of Daenerys Targaryen from the epic programme, then here’s your chance to find out. With tutorials on ‘clean’ Daenerys and ‘dishevelled’ Daenerys, this will cover both your everyday and fancy dress needs in one. For fans of the show and Khaleesi herself, this is a must-see.
She Hearts…Androgyny
One of my favourite Youtube channels is undoubtedly The Platform, which is brimming with fashion ideas and on-trend lookbooks. This week as part of The Fashion Statement with Amy Pham, it was all about androgyny and putting together menswear inspired looks without looking overly blokey. Amy definitely pulled it off, and there are some brilliant androgynous outfit ideas here for everyone who wants to swerve away from the uber-feminine trend.
She Hearts…Chanel’s ‘Once Upon A Time’
If you’ve got time to kill this afternoon, make yourself a cpupa, get comfortable and snuggle up in front of ‘Once Upon A Time’, directed by Karl Lagerfeld. This cinematic short tells the story of Gabrielle Chanel (played by Keira Knightley) and is great Sunday fayre for those who just want to put their feet up and relax. If you love all things fashion, a bit of fashion history or just the Chanel brand itself, give this a watch.
She Hearts…SuperBeautyNerd
How Jess’s channel has managed to elude me for all this time, I will never know. After being recommended her videos through Youtube, I recently discovered SuperBeautyNerd and have quickly fallen in love with her channel. Jess’ tutorials are brilliant, she doesn’t beat around the bush about things she doesn’t like, yet she’s super eloquent and her latest everyday grunge make up tutorial is top notch. She has a gorgeous pale complexion, which means her tutorials are very apt for someone as fair as myself and her recommendations are brilliant.
