This Week’s Video: A Thrift Haul!

Hello and welcome to this week’s (late) video. It may be Monday, not Sunday as promised, but nevertheless today I’m going to share my latest thrift haul. Being as I’m saving like a beast at the moment, I haven’t really been frequenting the high street, however I did pop into a few charity shops with my BFF when she came to stay lately and picked up some gems. Without further ado, let’s get into it…

That’s it for today’s post, if you’d like to get started with thrifting and you’re not sure about it, check out my latest blog post (here) for my tips on finding perfect pieces. I’d highly recommend getting into thrifting, to vary your wardrobe a little and keep it updated without spending a tonne! With that said, I’ll see you all very soon.
Until next time…

The SHTHS Guide To Thrifting

Guide To Thrifting

Today I thought I’d go into my top tips for thrifting, being as I’m uploading my big thrift haul this weekend. I thought this post would serve as a good resource to direct readers to, for some good old tips on finding gems in the charity shops. These tips may seem like common sense to more seasoned thrifters, but I thought I’d share a few things that cross my mind during, and before I go on a thrifting trip.

Guide To Thrifting

Have pieces in mind. Having a wishlist will often help you to navigate your way through the tat to the treasure. Instead of buying a brand new, worn-effect denim jacket, go to the charity shop with that in mind and focus on searching for an original for less. Don’t rule out sections. Don’t go straight for womenswear and assume that’s the only place you’ll find an amazing piece. I’ve found some of my best pieces in the men’s section, and my BFF recently scored an amazing oversized kids’ parka that’s so Zara and fits perfectly! Consider the maintenance cost. When looking at a piece and wondering whether it’s worth it, consider how much it’ll cost to repair or dry clean. I’ve scored great, affordable pieces before, but the cost of dry cleaning them has far surpassed what I paid for them- not so cheap!

Guide To Thrifting

Try on as much as possible. Deal or not, you don’t want to fill your wardrobe with ill-fitting pieces and build up a collection of your own to donate again! If you’d try it on in a high street store, do the same while thrifting. Don’t be disheartened. No one wanders into a charity shop and finds their whole autumn/winter look in one go. You have to go back often to stay up to date with what’s new in your local shops, so you can pounce on all the new merchandise. Don’t lose faith if you go on fruitless trips, those gems are right around the corner! That’s all for today! Let me know some of your thrifting and charity shop-shopping tips, I’d love to know what you do! Feel free to leave me your comments or any questions you might have, and you can always alternatively tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Don’t forget that my thrift haul will be up this weekend, so check back then for more. Until next time…

Outfit Of The Day: Check Mate

OOTD: Check Mate

Another outfit post today in what is becoming a Monday tradition! As I write this, it is absolutely blowing a gale, and it feels as though the calendar is correct- autumn really is here. Now you guys may know that this is indeed, music to my ears, as I’m not the most summer-loving person in the world, and now I get to rock all my amazing coats until well into next year! I thought I’d start by showcasing a Depop bargain I found quite recently. Coloured faux fur is back with a vengeance this year, and being as I boarded that bandwagon a long while ago, I thought it’d be rude not to indulge in another great autumn/winter piece, especially at the price I paid for it!

OOTD: Check Mate

This amazing coat was a steal on shopping app Depop a few weeks ago. I hauled this and many other pieces in a video, so if you haven’t seen it, I’ll link it here. This Topshop coat had only been worn once, but I got it for a lowly £28 with postage through the app, and have been besotted since! I teamed the coat with this cute checkered dress from Less Than 10 Pounds, a great, affordable site who kindly sent me over a couple of pieces to test recently. Again, I hauled all the lovely things they sent me in my latest video here, so feel free to check that out for more! This dress is lovely quality, super flattering and is a muted grey with a slight blue lean, hence why I thought it’d go so well with this coat. Better yet, it’s £4.99! You absolutely cannot argue with that deal, especially if you’re particularly skint right now, or a student looking to keep your wardrobe updated! You can pick up the dress here.

On to the shoes, and what beauties they are! I squealed out loud when I found out that these ASOS Enemy boots had gone down to £25 in their recent sale, and they’re still available here, so go, go, go while you can! They’re a mix between a Mary Jane and a boot, and I love the badass, post-apocalyptic vibe they give to an outfit! Again, as with everything else, I hauled these boots here in my latest video, so feel free to check that out! That’s it for today’s post, let me know what you think of this outfit by leaving me a comment below, and/or tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…

This Week’s Video: My September Collective Haul!

Another month has gone by, so it’s about time that I showed you what I picked up during September. October is well and truly here (and I couldn’t be more excited about it), so all these things are very autumnal, cosy and appropriate for the months ahead. Of course, as usual it’s all from the high street, so nothing here is going to break the bank and hopefully you guys will all be able to get your hands on the pieces I’ve picked up too! Without further ado, let’s get into it…

That’s it for today’s video, I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know what you think of the pieces I picked up, by leaving me a comment here, or by tweeting me @MillieDelacoe. Don’t forget next week’s video is a thrift haul, which I’m super excited to share, so be sure to check back in on Sunday for that! Until next time…

Outfit Of The Day: Not Kimon-ly One

Outfit Of The Day: Not Kimon-ly One

Kimonos are everywhere right now, I had been dying to get my hands on a gorgeous one, and this balmy September we’re having is optimum kimono wearing time. In short, I’m not the kimon-ly one who’s rocking this trend, and boy do I adore it. This crochet detail kimono was the focal point and inspiration behind this look, and better yet it’s just £24.99 from New Look. The lovely guys at New Look sent this over so I could style it up for you, so let’s see what I came up with…

Outfit Of The Day: Not Kimon-ly One

Being as the kimono is in my favourite shade- black, I decided to amp up the rest of the outfit. This is a really true representation of what I wear on the regular, a fun skirt, band tee and an accessory pop or two is usually what I go for, so this kimono fits seamlessly into my wardrobe. I already wore this outfit twice before shooting it, so I think that says a lot more than simply donning a piece for a photo shoot!

Outfit Of The Day: Not Kimon-ly One

The tee I’m wearing was an Urban Outfitters sale bargain, and I’ve worn it multiple times on the blog before! The skirt was a recent Ebay steal, which I’ve already worn to death, and speaking of- I’m sure you recognise my H&M boots, which are a permanent fixture here on the blog! The necklace was also a recent find, I happened upon this beauty in a charity shop off Portobello and for £10 I thought it was a right bargain, especially as it’s so weighty, opulent and well made.

Outfit Of The Day: Not Kimon-ly One

So that’s it for today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks again to New Look for the gorgeous kimono, I loved styling it up! Stay tuned for more on the blog and on my channel this week, and I’ll see you all very soon. Until next time…

This Week’s Video: The What’s On My iPhone Tag

Hello guys and welcome to this week’s video post. Apologies for the couple of video-less weeks just gone, but I’m afraid life and work have been getting in the way of late! But, I’m back with a video and it’s the what’s on my iPhone tag. I’ve been meaning to do this video ever since I did my what’s in my bag video way back when! This is well and truly overdue, so without further ado, let’s get into it.

I hope you enjoyed that little sneak peek of my phone- thanks again to Three for the lovely Anja Jane phone case! I’m a sucker for printed cases and couldn’t resist this one, you can find more on their online store here, for the 4s like me, the iPhone 5s and also the new iPhone 6! Let me know your app recommendations- I’m currently looking for a good holiday countdown app that works from the lock screen, so let me know if you know of one! That’s it for today, thanks for watching. Until next time…

Outfit Of The Day: A Nautical Autumn

Nautical For Autumn

Those of you that have been following my blog for a long while now, may be aware of my love affair with all things nautical. It could be attributed to the fact that I grew up by the sea, it could be the maritime town I went to university in that inspired me, but living in London has done little to dampen my love for all things sea-inspired- especially when it comes to my wardrobe. When the lovely guys at Joules recently contacted me about giving one of their dresses a go, I couldn’t help fall head-over-heels for this simple yet classic striped number that I feel perfectly evokes that nautical vibe. So, let’s have a look how I paired it…

Being as it’s getting slightly cooler here now in the UK, I thought a striking bit of outerwear would look great with this simple dress. I picked out the white from the stripes in the dress, and opted to amplify it with my outerwear and footwear. The coat I’m wearing was an absolute steal at £20 from the Topshop sale over a year ago, and has been a staple in my wardrobe since. I think it adds a nice juxtaposition to the fitted, feminine dress. Of course, the dress is Joules and I have to say it genuinely is one of the most flattering and comfortable dresses I own. Its simplicity means there’s a world of outfits to be created with it, and the craft that has gone into making it far supersedes that of most of my wardrobe. Although at £50 this dress is higher on the price scale than I typically go for, in terms of value, I think it’s well worth it, as it’s not going to bobble and ruin after a couple of washes, and there isn’t a stray or frayed seam in sight. This dress and I are in it for the long haul.

Finally to finish off the look, I went for these TK Maxx boots, which I picked up for £24.99 a little while back, (there’s a full blog post on them here). To keep accessories minimal, I went for my Monki Unni sunglasses, (again there’s a full post on them here too). If you’d like to see more of this dress, then you’re in luck, as I recently featured it in my August Collective Haul on my channel, which you can find here. It may just help you see exactly what I’m talking about when I’m waffling on about the quality! That brings today’s post to a close, let me know as usual what you think of this look! I’ll be back on Friday with another post for you guys, so I’ll see you very soon. Until next time…
