The High Volume Heel

High Volume Heels

Shoes, glorious shoes! I’ve definitely been obsessed with a fair few pairs of footwear on the blog of late, so I hope you’re enjoying the barrage of boots and heels too! Today I’m bringing you a super affordable pair of high volume heels, that instantly add some height and attitude to any outfit. These gorgeous heels, or more correctly, platforms, were very kindly sent over to me by the guys at shoe store tReds, and it’s safe to say I’m completely besotted, just look at them!

High Volume Heels

I absolutely adore the strappy detail, and love the retro vibe of the platform, and better yet, the price tag! At £19.99 these heels are a real steal, and perfect for the upcoming parties that autumn/winter bring with it, not to mention Freshers week for all you students on a nonstretchable budget. While these are super high, the platform makes these slightly easier to walk in, then say a stiletto would, and the neutral black and wood effect heel mean there’s so much they’ll go with. If you’re in need of a pair of heels that’ll see you through many nights out this autumn/winter, and fit seamlessly with your wardrobe, I’d say these are a great bet.

High Volume Heels

Go Pin-Up At The Poolside (+ Giveaway)

Retro Bikinis

My style in summer, as soon as it gets hot, goes immediately retro and pin-up inspired. I find that retro prints and cuts suit my body shape, and never go out of style unlike the seasonal trends that come and go. This is particularly true when it comes to my beachwear. When London-based beachwear brand Kinky Octopus sent me a very generous package of their vintage look pieces ready for my holiday, I couldn’t help but snap them with my old trunks and cases, and wanted to share them with you guys! Better yet, Kinky Octopus are giving away a bikini of your choice to one lucky reader of my blog, so stay tuned to the end for more info.

Retro Bikinis
Retro Bikinis

Unlike some expensive beachwear brands, Kinky Octopus’ bikinis range from between £20-£30 for a set, and then there’s the accessories; flip flops, cover-ups etc, with a massively wide range of prints and cuts to suit every body shape. I was sent three gorgeous patterns, with mix and match bottoms, so you never get tired of your pin-up combo by the pool. My three tops came in polka dot (a classic), tiger print (which I adore), and tropical print, which happens to be massive this year, as well as a great retro staple. It’s safe to say they all have a great pin-up vibe that I adore! Kinky Octopus’ Ebay store is the first place to hit up if you’re not London based, and their full range of products is up there. If you’d rather try on your pieces first though, they have a super cute store in Soho so you can try on your desired pieces in person. If you’ve got a holiday booked for the end of summer, or are planning in advance for some winter sun, I’d recommend checking them out!

Party Perfection, Without The Price Tag!

Party Perfect

I love a good make up look- something that makes you feel like a million dollars, and as a result of that I usually spend a lot of time, and probably too much money on getting ready. Now while that’s all fine and dandy if you have the money to spend (which I definitely don’t), the high street and online stores can be the perfect place to pick up your party essentials, so you’re always looking your best. Today’s post is focusing on two products and two websites in particular, that offer brilliant items at student-friendly prices- so no one will be unprepared for Freshers.

Party Perfect

A lovely friend of mine who works at both falseeyelashes.co.uk and nailpolish.co.uk hooked me up with some gorgeous party perfect products to show you guys, and I couldn’t be happier with the glam little kit she sent my way. While I don’t wear falsies on my lashes very often, I do appreciate a good ‘lashy’ look to make an impression on a night out, and think they’re an absolute must for fancy dress too. More is most definitely more. These aptly named ‘Party Perfect’ lashes in ‘Twilight’ from Eylure are the most beautiful, flattering shape, and instantly make me think of Lana Del Rey, whose eyelashes always captivate me in her videos. They flare out towards the end, giving a doe-eyed look that’s vintage-inspired and not too OTT. For £2.99 these are an absolute steal, usually retailing for almost double that.

Party Perfect

Finally, I got to try out a China Glaze polish, which aren’t that easy to come by here in the UK, particularly at a good price. Nailpolish.co.uk have tonnes of hard-to-find OPI and China Glaze polishes, and a nail polish addict like me can’t resist. I chose China Glaze’s Don’t Make Me Wine, which is the ultimate shade for autumn, with it’s dark berry hue and slight shimmer. I didn’t have anything like this in my collection, and I think it’s a unique shade that’ll compliment tonnes of skin tones. For £4.35, this won’t break the bank, and is cheaper than popping off to the salon!

That’s it for today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you’ve bought from these sites before, and what you thought! Leave me a comment below or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…

Outfit Of The Day: Girly Grunge

OOTD: Girly Grunge

Hello and welcome to today’s outfit post, this week I’m back with another look in association with George at Asda! Last week I brought you my Get Your Bright On outfit, with an embroidered dress (see here), and this week I decided to give another one of their floral dresses a twist. The lovely guys at George at Asda let me pick out two pieces to style for you altogether, from their summer collection, so I hope you enjoy today’s final look! It’s all about grunging up the girlishness…

OOTD: Girly Grunge

I started off with this ditsy floral dress, obviously from George at Asda (here), I like that it isn’t too vibrant, and it has a burnout vibe that I think lends itself well to this outfit in particular. To downplay the floral look, I threw over my new Harley Davidson crop that I bought via Depop and which was featured in my recent Depop haul here. I love how these pieces look layered together, especially when I’m nipped in with my H&M belt to stop frumpiness occurring! I also went for my classic Forever 21 sunglasses, Tommy watch and then upped the accessories ante with this amazing New Look rucksack which you can pick up here. I have adored this rucksack since I saw it at the AW14 press day back in May, and have been refreshing the New Look website since to get my hands on it! Last of all are my River Island boots which were a lowly £20 in their recent sale. I wanted these when they were £40, but I waited it out, and I’m so glad my patience paid off.

OOTD: Girly Grunge

Thanks once again to my gorgeous friend Jade of Nouvelle Noire for these great snaps! Jade and I took outfit shots on Embankment after attending the amazing Time: Tattoo Art Today exhibition at Somerset House, which we adored. If you’d like to read about that, and see the incredible visuals from the exhibition, just click here for my post all about it. The exhibition runs until October 5th, so you still have plenty of time to see it in person too! I’d highly recommend going if you love tatts!

OOTD: Girly Grunge

That’s it for today’s outfit post, I hope you enjoyed it! How would you style this dress? I’d love to know, so tell me in the comments, or tweet me @MillieDelacoe. Until next time…

This Week’s Video: My Second Depop Haul!

Hello and welcome to today’s video! This week I have another Depop haul for you guys, as it’s fast become my favourite app, and I absolutely adore shopping on it. The great thing is, if you find willing participants, you can also swap your unwanted clothes- so even if you’re particularly broke at the moment, or trying to stretch your student loan as it is, you can still inject some new pieces into your wardrobe. Here’s what I both swapped and bought off the app recently…

That’s it for today’s video, I hope it’ll convince you to join the Depop community. I’m in no way sponsored by them, but have had a blast buying and selling on there of late, and want to spread the word! Don’t forget that you can add me on there @camilladelacoe if you’d like, and I’ll see you all very soon! Until next time…

The Back-To-School Boot

The Back-To-School Boots

It’s nearing the end of August, and although I still have my summer holiday to come, there’s definitely a sense in the air that Autumn is well on its way. Autumn will forever remind me of that going back to school excitement, be it primary school, high school, or even university, the start of a new academic year, getting yourself a new set of stationery, and a pair of shoes to last you the season. Every year around this time, my Mum and I would take a trip to our local Clarks, and pick out some school shoes for me, that would be durable enough to last through all the playground shenanigans! It’s something I always remember about the back-to-school routine, and so when Clarks very kindly offered to let me pick out a pair of shoes from their autumn/winter collection this year, I jumped at the chance.

The Back-To-School Boots

I went along to my nearest London branch to check out the collection, and there were so many gorgeous, well-made, and comfortable pairs that it was truly difficult to settle on one pair. I finally went for the Orinoco Club boot in black which are the most cloud-like shoes I own now! As I’ve got older (OK, I’m 24) I’ve realised that where I used to squeeze my feet into any shoes if I thought they were cute, now I just cannot deal with uncomfortable footwear, and I always gravitate towards my most comfy ones- luckily they’re aesthetically pleasing too! Therefore, I genuinely feel as though these Clarks boots will be on my feet for the duration of autumn/winter, just like my old pairs would have been! Flashback alert!

The Back-To-School Boots

The Orinoco Club boots come in at a very reasonable £54.99, which I think for real leather, super soft boots is a massive steal. They come in multiple shades, which gives you extra choice, and the shape and detailing are reminiscent of a classic Chelsea boot, which gives them a timeless look, something that’s important if they’re going to be your go-to boots. No one wants their signature boots to go straight out of style, so it’s best to go classic, rather than trend-driven. Basically, I’m besotted, and I can’t thank Clarks enough for helping to make my autumn/winter wardrobe complete! If you want to get your hands on the Orinoco Clubs this year, they’re right here on the Clarks site for your browsing and/or buying pleasure!

The Back-To-School Boots

That’s it for today’s shoe-centric post, I hope you enjoyed it! What was, or is, your favourite part of the going back to school process? I’d love to know, so you can always leave me a comment here, or tweet me @MillieDelacoe on Twitter!
Until next time…
